When you will go search for a new BIGGER HARD DRIVE for your machine check to have THE SAME PARAMETERS as the previous one: * to be a SLIM HDD * to be a SATA HDD
Once you got it you have to open your machine (the back cover) and to replace the hard drive. To replace the hard drive means to UNPLUG two connectors from the old HDD and to replug them (the same position) into the new one.
Most newish laptop HDD now can be upgraded up to about 500GB should be fine if you google harddrives or look on ebay you should find one that you want weather it is sata or ide
just make sure that you check what sort you have before you buy
Underneath your laptop are removable flaps unscrew the one with the RAM under it, and look at the Type of RAM it is, then you can get more RAM exactly the same and put it in the spare slot. If no spare slot then you will have to upgrade with a bigger single stick RAM that will work. Your Operating System will automatically detect and handle the upgrade.
Joining two drive without harming data is a tough work. without 3rd party paid software, it is almost impossible. if those were D: an E: on atlease not one is c:, that would be easy. now you have to setup the operating system again..and while setting up, you have to delete those partitions and then make a new one with entire space.
besides, you can consider uninstalling some software and again setting up again at D: on the setup option.
