If your laptop is still under warranty, call Toshiba and let them know. They should be able to replace the keyboard for no cost.

Toshiba has offered to replace my Toshiba Satellite Model # E 105 Laptop PC that has a history of technilogical problems . Is is smart to accept a refurbished computer from Toshiba as a replacement.


Yes, Refurbished units turn out to be better then new ones. They are tested extensively by Toshiba.

The only thing is that they only offer 90 days warranty, in most cases, with the refurbished unit. Before you accept it, talk with the Toshiba tech and question him on the warranty.

If you were to log on to toshiba.com web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers, for spare parts and service, Driver downloads and Installation Instructions as required.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!


Dowmload the latest drivers and BIOS firmware. Ensure you have the latest OS updates.

Hi my son has broken the screen on his laptop it is only 5 months old so want to be able to keep 5 year warranty on it..... what is the best way to go from here ..... and who are authorited to fix it...


The Hardware Warranty on any computer would cover only defects and failures in the Hardware due to workmanship or manufacture. The Hardware Warranty will not cover anything that gets broken due to user interaction on the computer.
Hence, the Hardware Warranty will not cover any part that a user of a computer breaks (either intentionally or unintentionally).
I understand that your laptop is a Toshiba.
Just to let you know, Dell offers a Complete Care warranty over and above the normal Hardware Warranty, in orde to cover unintentional damage to a computer.
But, in your case, to be honest, I do not think the breakage to the laptop or any part of the laptop would be covered under the normal Hardware Warranty.
But please get in touch with Toshiba support (800) 457-7777 (toll-free) or (949) 859-4273 (I am presuming that you are in the US) and get things clarified :-

I need the address so that I can send my laptop in for repair. It crashed and I spoke with someone on the phone and they said to send it to the manufacturer.


You need to contact Toshiba if it is under warranty or if there is no other repair place close to you. Usually the store you purchased the laptop from will know if there is a local repair depot or will be able to help you finding one. They should be able to tell you if it is still under Toshiba's warranty or any extended store type warranty.

You can contact Toshiba by going to the Toshiba website (select your country or area) and clicking on the support tab, Then just find the repair depot closest to you. If you have any trouble or questions call the Toshiba support numbers. These are usually toll free numbers and the person should be able to help you find out where and how to send in your laptop for repairs. Toshiba has been very good for warranty in my experience and will even send you a prepaid shipping box if it needs to go back to them. Usually there is a local repair depot they will get you to send or drop it off at. This will be a computer or repar shop that is certified by Toshiba for doing repairs.
