Question about HP Compaq nw8000 Notebook

2 Answers

BIOS upgrade was breakdown notebook.

I tried to upgrade COMPAQ NW8000 notebook bios, recently with the latest one in HPs site.

After upgrade operation I was not able to reach to BIOS screen nor to see anything on the screen. Only power led is on.

I will be appreciated if there is any software based solution.

Enable LAN card in BIOS. Operating system is not finding the on-board LAN adapter.

It seems to be a fault in your hardware, if your hardware were working correctly you would have found your LAN working after upgrading your BIOS firmware.
You should replace your LAN Card Device.

Thank you very much...

My Compaq Presario F500 running Vist Home Basic will no longer boot the operating system after I completed an advise BIOS update from HPs websit. I receive an error code stating that the system is cor

Hi.

Try this >>>>

Power down your Compaq Presario F500 notebook computer. Remove the unit's internal battery from its housing compartment.
Use a screwdriver to unscrew and remove all of the screws from the bottom panel of your Compaq Presario F500. Use your hands to lift off the bottom panel, revealing the inside of the notebook computer.
Look for the CMOS/BIOS chip: It will be located in the center of your computer's motherboard, which is itself located in the center of the case.
Remove the small battery from its housing compartment on the CMOS/BIOS chip. Then, press and hold the "Power" button on the laptop's case for a few seconds. This will completely discharge all electricity from the device.
Replace the CMOS/BIOS' battery. Place the bottom panel of the notebook computer back on and screw it back into place. Place the Compaq Presario F500's battery back into its housing compartment and press the "Power" button to turn it on. Your CMOS/BIOS will now be completely reset.
Good luck and please let me know how you get on!!!!

HP Compaq nx9030 bios dead how to replace bios with bootable stick

Download the bios version and the instructions from HP support site...and Im not sure it will work from boot-able stick ..cause from what i know only for asus motherboards it let you flash the bios ..but for all others you have to make a boot-able floppy disk ..and reinstall bios..
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/hp-search/search-results.html?charset=iso-8859-1&lk=1&la=en&nh=10&st=1&rf=0&qp=&qs=&qt=install+bios+for+notebook&h_audience=&tridion=0&hps=Home&hpr=http%3A//h41131.www4.hp.com/us/en&h_audiencerestrict=&hpvc=sitewide&hph=&hpo=&hpn=Home&hpl=1&hpa=http%3A//www.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html&
uf=1&regionStatus=ACTIVE&cc=us&lang=en
It seams that you can install from windows after all ..but if you do not have a working system on the notebook it still needs to be installed from an diskette ..

External HD device driver for Compaq Armada E500

First, try the external drive in some other "recent" computer.
Use the other computer to "format" the disk-space,
and thus make an "empty" partition. Then, reconnect it to your computer, and see if the total capacity of the drive has been detected.

According to the manufacturer's web-site:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=96717&prodSeriesId=96231&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093

this computer dates from 2001/2002. So, the claim of a maximum of 32GB probably is correct -- drives larger than 32GB were either not-available, or were prohibitively-expense, nearly 10 years ago.

Download the latest BIOS-update from the above web-site, and CAREFULLY follow the instructions to update the BIOS.

However, you have not said what happens when you connect the external disk-drive, as a USB device. It *MIGHT* work "as is", i.e., without trying to update the BIOS.

I want to upgrade the memory on my compaq presario r3000 laptop this is not a problem as I have located the memory cards. However it recommends a bios upgrade and this is a minfield for the uneducated like...

No disrespect but it is apparent that you do not posess the required skilss to perform a BIOS upgrade.

Even with a step by step guide it would be easy to brick your BIOS and leave your Lappy unusable.

If I were you I would pay a professional to do it.

Compaq presario v6000 laptop keyboard malfunction

Try reseting the BIOS to its defaults by following the instructions below :

Start or restart the Notebook and start tapping the F10 key immideatly you see the HP logo.

Now, in this press the F9 key to load the BIOS Default settings.

Press the F10 key to save the settings and exit the BIOS setup window.

Additionally, check by connecting any USB Keyboard to the Notebook if available.

Additionally, find the Product Number of the Notebook which is indicated with P/N printed on a white sticker pasted at the bottom of the notebook.

Open HP.com and enter this in the search field at the top right column.

Click on Software & Driver downloads and select the Operating System in the Notebook which should be Vista.

Scroll down to find BIOS under which you will find the BIOS Updates available for your Notebook.

Download and save the latest BIOS Update available.

Close all the windows and applications and double click on the file to update the BIOS.

Donot attempt to access any application or turn it off or restart when the BIOS is being updated as this will damage the BIOS Chip and make the Notebook useless.

The Notebook will restart automatically after the BIOS is Updated.

Hope this helps...

Compaq armada 1700 only starts on safe mode

If this is your notebook - Compaq Armada 1700 (316320-056) PC Notebook. The system memory only came with 32MB's of memory. Your not telling me enough. Have you recently upgraded your operating system? If I have this wrong please post which Compaq you have from the list I'm providing from this link:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=96221&taskId=135
If you are trying to run a XP version your memory will need to be increased to at least 512MB. You still have the Compaq's splash screen loading when you turn on your notebook which blocks you from seeing the amount of memory installed in your notebook. So when you start your notebook press the F12 key on your keyboard. You need to enter the bios. If F12 does not get you there than try F10 or F1 key. At startup. Repeat hitting the key every two seconds till the Bios screen loads. Look for the amount of memory installed. At the bottom of the bios screen is instructions on how to navagate while in the bios. You'll need to post back with what you found If I'm to help further.
