Hi..
if you have windows xp then you need to turn your computer as soon as you do that before you see the windows xp logo hold down the control key and keep tapping f11 key.it should take you to the screen fro factory settings and if it is windows vista then you can go ahead and press f8 and then choose repair my computer, hit enter which will then prompt you to login in once you log in it will tell you to choose the options from the options listed below choose the one which says restore factory default...you computer will be restored to factory settings..

I have successfully restored my inspiron 1525 with the factory setting that it was shipped with. I actually used the file named factory.wim file located in d:\dell\image which is the imege file and the exe program named imagex.exe which is located in d:\tools\imagex.exe
use the switches such as typing " imagex /apply d:\dell\image\factory.wim 1 c:\ " type imagex /apply /? for help. In my case the image was located at d:\dell\image\factory.wim and i used it to restore myy laptop. First start your computer and on bios mode press F12 and use the operating system vista cd to start the computer. afterwards select "Repair my computer" and it will show the menu. In the menu the last item is command prompt. Select it. change the drive from x:\ to d by typing "d: "and press enter now from D drive try to locte the file imagex.exe which in my case is located in d:\tools\imagex.exe. Along with this file we need another file named anyname.wim which in my case was factory.wim. location was d:\dell\image\factory.wim now come to the commnd used to restore the computer to the factory settings
imagex /apply d:\dell\image\factory.wim 1 c:\ oh i forgot one thing that i formatted my C Drive using the same CD.

How do i resolve DNS server issues

typically your router should pick that up automagically from your ISP. If the power failure reset your router to factory (unlikely) you will need to login to it and reset those settings. from a computer connected to that router run a dos console (type cmd in win 7 or 8 start menu or xp run menu) then run ipconfig, write down the gateway address and use internet explorer to browse to that address (type the address in the address bar). login to the router and look for the ISP settings and such. your ISP should be able to help with those settings. that failing use 8.8.8.8 (google) as a DNS server in your computer IP configuration.

How to set netgear router WNDS3400 to factory settings

i had thes same issue with netgear got it fixed by netgear support . call NETGER SUPPORT AT 1866-283-6613 First of all don't worry ...it is very easy to do with right steps. for resetting the netgear router you have to take a paper clip, , and insert it into the little reset hole in the back of the router, and hold for 15 seconds or so, that'll reset the router. Wait for all the lights to stop flashing and remain on, then try to connect to the internet. for more info contact and you may can also get the menu, find Restore Factory Settings, and Apply it. Wait for the process to complete 100%, this sometimes takes up to 30 seconds after it says it is complete, and then exit the browser. Now open the browser again and you should see your homepage

There is an orange "i"

The orange "i" means that the Ethernet cable connection to the modem has been detected.

The light should be blinking green for Internet connectivity.

I advise you to reset the router:

To restore the factory default configuration settings:

1. Use a sharp object such as a pen or a paper clip to press and hold the restore factory settings button, located on the rear panel of the router, for about 5 seconds, until the Power light begins to blink .

2. Release the restore factory settings button, and wait for the router to restart, and for the Power light to stop blinking and become solid green.

The factory default settings will be restored so that you can access the router from your Web
browser using the factory defaults.
If resetting the router does not correct the issue, you should call your ISP (Internet Provider) and check if they are having a problem.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response
Thanks, Joe

Wbr1310. i switched laptops to mac. it picked up the old settings but now it's not picking up the password etc. what do i do? i do not have the set up cd anymore. can you plse help me? thanks

Step 1 With the unit on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset.

reset.gif

Step 2 Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release.

Note: Do not repower unit during this procedure.

Step 3 The unit will reboot on its own. Once the WLAN light stops blinking, the unit is reset.

Resetting the router does not reset the firmware to an earlier version. It will change all settings back to factory defaults.

Note: The factory defaults username is admin, and there is no password.

If you need more help come back.Post / thumbs / testimonial are welcome!

Cant get dell insiron 1525 to restore factory settings

Dell Tec told me to choose "To set up Windows XP now" (with Operating System CD in drive) If it doesn't work try Dell Tech Chat. I kept getting "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file." (I tried to restore to original factory, followed directions, f12 boot from CD but when I get to "Agree to Licensing Agreement" none of the keys work except ESC.) I was able to get on the Dell Tech Chat at http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/chat/hardware_chat?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs (you need your Service Tag) tried same steps but keys would not work so they sent me a new hard drive that I can install myself. Evidently there is no way to fix this. Tech says wireless will work with new hard drive. Is your warranty active? I always get SquareTrade.com (cheaper than most) warranty. They fix or give you what you paid. Everything I buy breaks & sooner than you would think.

Linksys Group LIWRT160N Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router say's password is not enough characters, however I am using the right password. Why can't I set up this Window's computer?

Okay,i only option is to reset the router to its factory settings.
Please follow the steps to reset the router.
The router can be set to factory default by pressing the Reset button of the router and resetting through the router’s web-based setup page. Pressing the Reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds will reset your router to its factory default settings. Any settings on the router will be erased and the router’s IP address will become “192.168.1.1,” the username is still blank, and the password will be “admin.”
To perform a hardware reset on your Linksys router follow the steps below.
Step 1:
Take note of the current settings of the device before resetting.
Step 2:
Press the Reset button of the router for 30 seconds.
Step 3:
If the normal reset does not work, unplug then plug back the router's power adapter while pressing the Reset button.
To reset the router via its web-based setup page, follow the steps below.
Resetting the Router Using the Web-Based Setup Page
Step 1:
Access the router’s web-based setup page. .
NOTE: If you are using Mac to access the router’s web-based setup page,
Step 2:
When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click Administration then Factory Defaults.
Step 3:
Look for Restore Factory Defaults and select Yes.
Step 4:

My wireless internet shows connected, but it won't display a page

My Dell Inspiron Mini 10 would not connect to wireless Internet. Tried all the fixes but only restore to previous date worked. Last time I restored I got message: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file." I could not find any way to fix this so I tried to restore to original factory. I followed directions, f12 boot from CD but when I get to "Agree to Licensing Agreement" none of the keys work except ESC. I was able to get on the Dell Tech Chat at http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/chat/hardware_chat?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs (you need your Service Tag) tried same steps I did but keys would not work so they sent me a new hard drive that I can install myself.
Evidently there is no way to fix this. Tech says wireless will work with new hard drive. I hope so.

Bluetooth driver

If you're looking for Dell Bluetooth device drivers got to www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag",(serial number) of the 820 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.
