Bypass hdmi to get sound to PC speakers

I have a phillips dvd player and xbox 360 that i use on this monitor via hdmi but since hdmi carries the sound i cannot use my pc subwoofer and speakers for sound. i used to use the headphone jack on my tv to use the speakers n sub but now when its connected it wont go thru because the hdmi is running and i would like to use alternative speakers and not the monitor speakers. this monitor only has hdmi, vga, and headphone inputs. ive seen people use the hdmi-to-dvi but i dont have anything with dvi so thats out of the question. any advice i would really appreaciate. thanks.

no it only has an audio input so if i connect for example headphones or pc speakers while using the hdmi, the sound will stay on the monitor speakers

I have a Saphire ATI 4550 with HDMI and when I installed it...it disabled my on-board sound which powered my PC speakers and subwoofer. I can't even switch output divices in control pannel. The only option is the HDMI audio coming out of the crummy speakers built into the monitor. I would love a tip on fixing this.

Does your tv not have an audio out, if so, you could turn the tv's internal speakers off and just use the audio out jacks instead.

What kind of receiver? Do you have anything else like DVD player going thru receiver? My receiver has 3 hdmi in and 1 out (to tv) so all those equipment would just go to "hdmi" on tv.
Another way to do it is put your tv on exterior audio... for all sound to go thru your receiver.

Xbox360 to pc monitor

HDMI to DVI works better than HDMI to VGA because VGA only uses simple RBG scheme.

Additionally the only way i see the Xbox getting connected to the extrenal speakers is if you get the speakers connected to the monitor/tv or whatever you are using directly. I havent tried or do not know of any way to connect the Xbox to speakers directly.

How do I get sound from my Xbox to my monitor via a hdmi lead - DVD lead

As far as I know, the DVI cable can't send sound, so if you could use a only-HDMI cable or SCART cable, that should give you both picture and sound.

XBox 360 to Reciever to TV via HDMI no sound

I recently got the same receiver and had the same problem. Here's what I was told - and it worked for me:

Even though HDMI cables carry audio and video, for whatever reason this reciever won't accept audio through hdmi. Apparently only much more expensive recievers carry audio through hdmi. What you have to do is run optical audio cables from your xbox, cable box, dvd player or other video device to the optical inputs on the back of the reciver. Then you customize the scene buttons to match your video and audio inputs.

You can get these optical cables pretty cheap on line or even at target. Don't get ripped off by Best Buy for these cables. I love best buy, but they rip off on cables!

This receiver is great - once I got it all figured out and running right I've loved it! Hope everything works out for you!

No sound from my xbox 360

You cant have HDMI and the xomponent cables pluged in at the same time.
to get audio to your monitor you will need an xbox 360 audio adapter. You can find that here. http://www.xbox.com/en-us/hardware/x/xbox360hdmiavcable/default.htm

That comes with the HDMI and audio adapter.
You can probabaly find it seperate somewhere else.

I hope this helps.
