The icemaker makes at horrendous noise when we try to get ice. THe ice bin pushes away by itself. The icemaker has been dripping water into the bin building up ice everywhere in the freezer. COuld it be the solenoid, the water works fine. IT doesnt want to make ice unless you clean the ice away, however lately it won't make any ice. Help

Re: Ice maker maker horrible noise when activated
Take out your ice bucket and clear all frozen water out of it only cubes should be in there if you have had a drip for several weeks you may have a big chunk in there possibly wrapped around the screew

Make sure that there are no kinks in the water line.
Next, inspect the feeler arm of the ice maker and make sure that it is down and not blocked by any ice cubes. If it's raised, it has turned the ice maker off. This arm needs to be in the lowered position to activate the ice maker An over-abundance of ice in the bin will make the arm stay up as a safety feature to keep the ice maker from making more ice than the bin can hold.
Hi: First off make sure the fridge is level. Is It too high in front? Making the rear of the icemaker overflow and jam? Also make sure the freezer section is a zero degrees, not just frozen. Ice cream should be rock hard. I hope this helps you avoid calling service. Thank You, Jeff
The metal off/on arm may be disconnected. A full bin should keep the arm in the up position and shut off the ice maker. Remove, then re-insert the metal arm in the back of the ice maker control head. Make sure that a full bin of ice activates the control arm. You may need to buy a replacement arm that is longer so that the ice catches on the arm.
This means that the tray is not getting cold enough to freeze the cubes. It must be no more than 12 degrees F for the icemaker to cycle properly.
Make sure your freezer is cold enough. If it is, then the other possibility is that the heater element in the icemaker (which thaws the cubes JUST ENOUGH for them to be pushed out when ready) could be stuck on. This can be easily tested, but the process is a little beyond the scope of this reply. Check this link http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/icemaker/diagicemaker.php
The icemaker should have a bar that is normally in the downward position (ie 4'Oclock) when the bin is not full. The ice falls into the collector and pushes that bar into a horizontal position (ie 3'OClock). These instructions are normally on the ice dispenser section. If the bar is not being pushed up then the icemaker does not know to stop. My only suggestion would be to empty completely the ice maker bin and check that the bar can be pushed from one position to the other. If this happens then try turning on again. I hope this is of some if not much help and good luck.
