Yes! IF you have a clean room....

Hard disc platters write on a surface 1/20th the size of your hair. So even dust you cannot see will destroy the data as you try to use it.

So simple answer is no. you cannot change the platter, unless you have a clean room :)

Pls can change my hard disk? with any other hard dist

Probably any hard drive of appropriate capacity (large enough), has the correct electrical interface (SATA or IDE), and is physically the correct size will work.

Can you see it under "Device Manager" or "Disk Management"?
To get to device manager and disk management click "Start"-> Type in "management" in the little white bar at the bottom and click "Computer Management".

On the left side make sure storage is expanded double click disk management, on the lower part find your Drive you want to change right click on it choose change drive letter and paths. Click on change, You will see a drop down arrow click that choose the first available letter, Now click on change. Do this to all of the drives you want to change Open My Computer/Computer see if it is now listed the way rou want it.

Ps you can't change the c drive if it is used as the operating system storage.

Seagate external hard disk is not getting detected in windows 7 previously it was detecting. i tried to change usb cable, tried on different system but nothing worked. i want to take backup of data also....

This is my suggestion for you to possibly recover the back up file in your external hard disk.

Remove the enclosure cover of the external hard disk. Detach the hard disk from the ide connection.
Change the jumper setting of the hard disk to slave. See the sticker in the hard disk to see how to set up the jumper to slave. Connect the hard disk to the ide cable inside your pc. If your computer is equipped with sata cable, just find some ide cable and connect it the the ide slot in your motherboard.

Restart your system and you will find your hard disk as drive (d:) in your system. If this was successful then problem can be cause by loose terminal solder in the usb/ide connector of the enclosure, or possible voltage drop of the power supply of the enclosure. USB driver issue or problem with the usb slot in your computer can also cause this issue.

If you do it yourself you invalidate the warranty, it is not too hard but fiddly, not a good idea unless you are a tech! try other world computing.
