It is getting too warm and shutting down to protect itself. This could be caused by insufficient ventilation or by shorted speaker wires.

Hello, if you have the manuals, go to page 54 or at this site if not try resetting them, for the 10av. It says to unplug it, plug it back in(I'd wait like 10 secs), then press clock set-enter-on/off at the same time. Keep in mind when you reset you will lose all saved information.
Ok, This is all I found so far. I would try the reset instructions on both units. I can't find the manual for the ZX 10D.

My receiver clicks on a off randomly.

Hello Fixya customer,

Thank you for your question.

Are you getting on the display, possibly a "P" or "Protect" that indicates it is in the protect mode?

Hitting the top of the receiver indicates a possible intermittent component or board connection. The receiver will shut down when the Microprocessor receives various fault conditions, including shorted speaker and wires, but if it develops an internal fault it will also shut down to protect itself and the speakers.

Remove all speaker wires and inspect th terminals for any stray wires shorting the terminals.

If it still shuts down, then a professional servicer would be required.

Thanks for using Fixya, and if I can help you further, please let me know.

Unless its being played to loud with to many speakers connected!

Why is it showing "protect" ?

You overrided your system and now it autoprotects itself so it won't get damaged. (solution) try to rewire your system (remove all cables and wait a few minutes and connect it all again.

Think i turned the volume too loud now when i go to turn it on it just clicks and turns itself into standby would be gratefull if anyone could help i have a denon avr-1507 thanks

Most decent receivers have a fuse to protect them from sudden overload. I would check and see if you can find one. It may involve opening the cabinet, but I bet you'll find a blown fuse somewhere.

Monitor show " Protect " can't do anything.

Protect is an indication that one of the output amplifiers is shorted. The unit turns itself off to avoid burning more components. I'd recommend taking it in to a repair facility for replacement of the blown output amp.

This generally means you've got a short somewhere, and the received is trying to protect itself.

My suggestion is to disconnect all of your speakers at both ends, and reconnect them.

Most times this happens because a speaker wire is lose, and the positive and negative connections are touching each other, causing it to short out.

Problem with HT-X250R

It sounds to me like it is overloaded and won't come back on because it has overload protection. Check your connections and make sure the outlet or power strip it's plugged into isn't overloaded. I would disconnect everything from it and turn the volume all the way down and try to get it to come back on. Let me know what happens.

Protection mode keeps kicking in

This happens less often in "normal surround" mode
