I have the same problem but a replacement trackball didn't help. I think the problem lies within the coper colored film that is on the inside of the device, underneath the trackball.

Hi
It seems that there might be something blocking it, like dust, press the trackball down and then try to scroll quickly towards the bottom, try it a couple of times, it should fix your problem

Clean Blackberry Curve 8330 Trackball

Ball on blackberry wont navigate up or down

Hi. BlackBerry smartphone trackball fails to roll in a particular direction because, debris is lodged in the trackball.
The trackball user interface found on certain BlackBerry smartphones is similar to the trackball used in a mouse in a desktop computer.
Using for certain period debris comes in contact with the trackball and affects the usability of the BlackBerry smartphone, rapidly roll the trackball up, down, left, or right to potentially correct the problem.
If rapidly rolling the trackball does not correct the problem, please contact your wireless service provider for support options.
I hope this information will be helpfull.

Blackberry Curve 8330 trackball

Under screen/keyboard option there is an area for trackball sensitivity both horizontal and vertical...Increase both and you should be fine.

Got my trackball a bit wet and now wont work, what should i do?

You might have damaged some circuitry, but can try cleaning the trackball with alcohol and a Q-Tip. You need to roll the ball around with the alcohol-soaked Q-Tip, then let it try. This will have the nice side effect of helping drive off any leftover water, too.

Trackball fell out of my blackberry curve. I need to scroll down. Is there an alternative method?

You have to have the trackball, there is no other way to scroll. You can probably get one from your local phone store.

Curve 8330 has a trackball issue

Good evening!
Removing (or replacing) the trackball on the Blackberry phone is very easy.
Shut off your blackberry phone (I would take out the battery).
Quickly examine the trackball itself on your phone. Use something with a small tip, like a screwdriver (NOT A KNIFE! Could damage the mechanism), and slide it underneath the silver ring around the ball. Gently lift up, might also want to try lifting both sides to help lift it off.
Once off, set aside the silver ring. You should now see the trackball mechanism, to remove it, simply flip the phone over and it should just fall out (can also tap it a few times which helps). The mechanism is simply held in magnetically.
You should now be able to see where the trackball was. You can now take a cotton swab with a small amount of rubbing alcohol and clean around in that area. If you examine, you will see small rollers around the trackball, you can also clean these.
This is the best way to clean the trackball. If all else fails you can replace the trackball. You can order one off amazon, they are very cheap, ranging from $2-10.
To put in the trackball, simply reverse the steps. The trackball device only goes in 2 ways, if it simply doesnt fit, turn it. It requires minimal force to put it back in. To put the silver ring back in, just match up the 3 little clips and gently push it back in.
Put the battery back in and give it a test.
Hope this helps!
