Question about Marantz SR7500

Marantz SR7500 headphone jack stopped working

The headphone jack of our SR7500 just stopped working last night in middle of a movie. The unit use to click and switch the sound to the headphones whenever we inserted headphones into the jack. Now nothing happens when we insert headphones. Sound never changes over. I've tried putting in different headphones with no luck. Has something burned out in our unit? Is there a quick fix? I tried unplugging and plugging back in, but no luck either.

Thanks.

There is a contact inside the jack that is closed when the plug is inserted. Apparently this is no longer happening. This should be an easy repair for a qualified technician.

Marantz sr3053 stuck in headphone mode

Usually the headphone jack is like a mechanical switch and it's probably just not making a good connection inside. Use the correct size headphone jack and insert it then remove it maybe a couple of times and see if that fixes it.

Pioneer VSX-456 headphone jack problem

No the headphone jack doesn't disable the speakers. There are two switches in the lower middle of the receiver that are labeled speaker A and B. Pushing one of these should disconnect the speakers from the receiver.

SR7500 amp. Amp was working fine last night, noticed this morning it was on standby (red LED) and when i switch it on, it comes up with PROTECT and immediately switches off

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Will not stay on

Have you tried plugging it into a different power point in your house?
If that doesn't make it stay on it is most likely a power supply issue with the receiver. More often than not it is cheaper to replace a receiver with a broken power supply than to pay someone to fix it.

Protect error on marantz sr4200

Check all your speaker wires carefully. Chances are good that a braid has crossed from + to - and causes the unit to protect itself. This is a very common problem! everyone's done it at some point. Check connections at both the receiver side and the speaker side. If you still have a problem, post a comment and I can help you troubleshoot further. Hope this helps.

Marantz SR7500 Home receiver, Digital CD will not play

Verify that the digital output is enabled. This is a switchable output. A brown-out or other power isseu may have shut it down.
Get back to us if that is not the case.
