It sounds like U need a new battery. You can find a new battery often in the internet and/or calling customer support./Hint: your lithium ion battery pack will last much longer if U use an external one as well. Go to battery space.com. I would recommend getting the battery holders elsewhere. www.batteryspace.com has the wires/connectors-tips, and battery pack chargers as well. There is powerizer 10 amp hour brand D rechargeables. Caution on using the 1.8 amp setting on the up to 12 Volt universal battery pack charger. Some of the smaller C cells under this brand have sometimes leaked when using this setting. Follow voltage ratings----9V on the outside of the charger would mean U would use 6 D cells. 12V would be 8 cells. If your battery in the player is built in, the exact voltage match would work. If it is detachable, getting a new detachable battery pack that came with this player is recommended in addition to the above. A lithium ion battery pack with adjustable voltage would be the answer if you are having trouble, though the capacity would be less. Players with detachable battery packs give trouble with too high of a cutoff voltage in the ac in jack if the detachable pack is not left plugged in and still working, or if the pack wont take a charge at all. Good luck, let me know how it turns out.

Won't turn on

If a portable, could be no charge or bad battery---output voltage is marked on the charger and can be tested with a meter---if voltage and battery are good (most units will work with the charger hooked even if battery is bad) then the unit has either a damaged jack where charger connects or has a power supply problem inside it.

Battery not holding a charge

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.Since you did not supply details of your device and the type of battery I cannot advise where to purchase the battery.
I suggest you Google the Internet for the rechargeable battery you require.

The player will not charge anymore. The charge light won't stay on.

It is more than likely the rechargeable battery is exhausted and must be replaced.

My Mintek portable DVD player's battery will not charge. I have rarely used the battery so I can't believe the battery is dead. The AC cord works to power it when plugged in. Why won't it...

After a while even rechargeable batteries loose the ability to hold a charge. This process accelerates when the battery is allowed to lie completely discharged for long periods of time. NiCad batteries especially have this issue. If you left the battery sitting for long periods without occasionally charging it, it losses the ability to hold a charge. It appears you are going to have to either do without the battery or replace the pack. I would take out the old one, it will eventually start to corrode and leak and if its still in your machine it will cause damage. If you get a new battery pack make sure you charge it fully and then depleat it completely before recharging it. hope this helps.

Suddenly, despite using the power cord, we get a "battery low" message and soon the player stops working. We've been using the DVD player for some time with no issues and this just started...

it is possible that the battery has been reset at a low level so it won't hold the charge. You may need to have it emptyed and then recharge it for the max time or you need to replace the battery.
