Question about Brother CS-8150 Computerized Sewing Machine

My new ruffling foot keeps jamming my machine

I have an old Montgomery Ward sewing machine, which continues to work well. I recently got a ruffling foot at my local Jo Ann's, and used it yesterday, It worked fairly well, though since I was ruffling lace, it did get caught in the machine a few times.

But today, it seems that every time I sew, the fork which fits over the needle shank jams up, causing my sewing machine to jam as well. I found that by taking the tension off the foot, and pushing it away from the needle, it will unjam itself for a few stitches, before locking up again.

I've tried changing the thread tension, and it does not help. If I set the foot not to ruffle, it will sew fine.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, the real issue is not the lace catching, but rather that the ruffling foot seems to be jamming my machine.

It looks like mine is, in fact, a riveted model. Thanks for the suggestion!

Take the foot off and check for a small burr in the area that pushes the material through. If there is a burr, it will get caught, especially on lace. The burr can be removed with a very fine abrasive stone or the emery srea from a match pack.

There might be 2 screws holding the ruffle leaf in place. If you have that type, loosen the screws and move the leaf away from the needle, to the back of the slot. If you have the rivited type, take it back for a slightly different model. Fitting a new foot to an older machine can sometimes try your patience.

I have a Montgomery ward sewing machine model number uhtj259a and I can't thread it right the thread keeps coming out of the needle when I try to sew

Be sure to pull at least 4 or 5 inches of thread through the needle before taking the first stitch. It is helpful to hold both thread tails in the left hand while slowly taking the first couple of stitches. It also helps to make sure the needle is at its highest point before taking the first stitch.

When threading, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and verify the thread path is correct.

How to thread an old Montgomery Ward sewing machine model 30 ? e

Search the internet for your machine make & model & threading instructions. You may not find your exact machine, but a lot of similar machines will have the same threading sequence.

Just a hint: be sure to RAISE the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread so the tension disk will allow the thread to seat properly.

Belt for wards sewing machine model UHJ J277F

Not sure you will have much luck finding a belt for the Ward brand, but Montgomery Ward did not make the machine. if you can remove the old belt, or if broken and fell off, take it to your local Singer Dealer, or any place that repairs sewing machines. They can measure it and may have a usable replacement.

I need a power cord with foot pedal for a montgomery ward sewing machine model UHT J 1980? Anybody have any ideas. Could also use a manual

Don't know if problem is resolved, but I put a Mont Ward sewing machine model # UHT 1460 on Washington DC Craigslist a few moments ago. Could not fix it, so am selling it for parts (something is wrong with bobbin assembly and I give up!!). If you just want the power cord and foot contact me through there and I will detach it and mail it to you--the postage shouldn't be too much for just those parts.
