I have a Macbook that connects to a Belkin F5D8233 router wirelessly for internet access. Everything connectivity-wise works fine until my wife connects wirelessly with her Dell laptop. As soon as she does, I lose my internet connection. This happens every time. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Macbook loses wireless internet connection
Hi 8233 is a good choice for a router
Here's your solution
1. These steps are to be performed strictly from a computer which is wired.
2.Even if you are using your mac book turn of the airport and connect it via a cable.
3. Open your router setup page by typing in 192.168.2.1 on your browser tab or typing i http://192.168.2.1 in the run window
4.An rsp will open and on the top right hand corner of the screen it will say Internet status:: connected
5.On the left hand side change you"ll see channell under wireless
6. Select it and change it to 6 or 11 for best signal strength
7.Now to the most important segment 8233 has a piculiar issue with its extra strong security
8.On the left hand side under wireless you"ll will see an option called wi-fi protected setup
9.Select it and turn it off reboot router and wow the problem should definately be resolved .
Then turn on airport and go wireless along with your wife.
10. You will still be secure with your data through security option on your router (wep or wpa )whatever you use .
Thank you and just let me know if it worked or not

Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1 The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password. You can now configure the wireless settings to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
When you added the WPS encryption ket to your wireless router, this secures your wireless network from unauthorized access to you wireless network. To allow your wireless computers and wireless printer to communicate with your wireless network the wireless cards in the computers and printer needs to be configured with the WPA encryption settings that you configured in the wireless router.
There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router. 1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from walls and if possible locate the wireless router higher up. 2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? Ie. change the default password, setup encryption use WAP2 or WAP, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router. 3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, ard welders, washing machines etc. If so the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) . 4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize the interference with your wireless router from the wireless routers and access points in your area.
It appears that this is an annoying problem for you. Here is the deal: it is typically cordless phones that mess up the connection. By default, routers are set to a LOWER CHANNEL. Grab the manual and access your router's settings and navigate to the wireless section. Find the channel setting and pick one of the highest one (think like channel 11). and presto, reliable connection...
ALSO, be certain to invoke security on the wireless connection.
You must configure the wireless settings of the laptop manually. It should match the wireless settings of your router. If you have wireless encryption enabled, make sure to type the network key on the wireless settings of your laptop.

You should be aware of a class action lawsuit that Belkin and the complaintent settled recently. The lawsuit was filed complaining that certain Belkin routers did not obtain optimal speeds as advertised.
Belkin has agreed to provide affected customers a discount program to purchase a new router. You will need to search elsewheres for the details.
