Sphygmomanometer

I take it the device is either auto or manual. If it uses batteries, they may be exhausted. Or, there is a valve that may be open. It looks like a shiny metal thing near the bulb. Or that valve might be defective, and it just doesn't shut properly. If that's the case, it should hiss a little bit.

The hose might not be screwed together tightly. There are inexpensive, accurate wrist cuffs for blood-pressure monitoring that work very well. If none of this works, you might pick up one of those.

The needle on the Sphygmomanometer gauge will not return to its zero reading. Otherwise it seems to function correctly.

This will happen sometimes, if the BP Cuff has been dropped and the gauge gets stuck. Have you tried tapping on the gauge with your finger, to get it to return to 0 ? Also. be sure the thumb screw air valve is fully open and the cuff is completely deflated. The gauge is easily replaceable, if necessary. Just contact the manufacturer of your BP Cuff or if you prefer Sphygmomanometer.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a blood pressure sphygmomanometer, how do you take a blood pressure reading and what is normal?

Much easier to go to a store, like Walgreens and get an inexpensive ( like 15 dollars) automatic wrist cuff blood pressure monitor, that will give you accurate and quick readings of your heart rate, and blood pressure, systolic and diastolic, automatically.

We need to recalabrate the sphygmomanometer...how do we do that?

Hi mindy_blu
thats the problem with sphygmomanometer, however you may try this. open the glass part then try to re align the hand of the manometer. this will then calibrate your manometer.
Thanks

"Lumiscope"Sphygmomanometer needle begins on 80 mm/Hg and will not go any lower. How do I get it to go back to "o" ?

to let the needle go back to zero, find the air valve of the sphygmanometer then turn it counter clockwise or clockwise, depends on your sphygmanometer manufacturer.

The needle is stuck on 120 on my sphygmomanometer

This problem may need to be escalated to a higher repair center a place like a precision measurement equipment lab. With it being a gauge I wouldnt recommend opening or doing anything to it since it is used to measure blood pressure.

Scope is stuck on 300

Unscrew the silver ring from around the dial face. Lift off the clear cover. Pull the needle off the pin. Re-align the pointer to "O". Gently push needle back on to pin avoiding pushing to hard or bending the needle. I hope this solution solves your problem.
