Hello,

Did you double post this question? I think you might have a hardware profile set up not to turn off wireless when in plug mode. If that isn't the case look in the BIOS and see if there is a setting in there. You could also check the power settings on your laptop.

Good luck,
Armymason

Acer Aspire 5733 Wireless connection lost

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.

If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.

Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.

Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.

Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.

Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.

Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire. Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.

Restart the computer.

The system may have booted and failed to detect the wireless receiver. Restarting the computer corrects this issue.

hope this helps

Hi My daughter droped the battrey off her notbook and now she cant get on the internet, but its detected the wireless conection

there is no problem with the battery in terms of the connection. Battery only supplies power to turn on the laptop. if the battery has malfunctioned and wasn't able to turn on your laptop, you can use your laptop's power cord.

the issue here, is that you can connect to the internet. all she needs to do, is go to Network Connections, chose the wireless connection, clicked Properties, scrolled down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), go to Properties and changed the setting to 'Obtain an IP address automatically' then applied the changes.

If you are running windows vista or windows 7 then you need to go to the power setting on the system, in the advanced options and look for wireless power setting. Turn the when on battery setting to leave the wireless card running instead of turning it off.

Go to display settings, screen saver, power options, balanced power or power saver, and look in there for the wireless adapter.

You need to have your own wireless router or basically your computer needs to see a wireless signal (any unsecured or secured network around the area). For XP computers, you can go to the control panel and look for network connection and then look for wireless network connection. Right click the wireless network connection and click on view available wireless network. If your wireless card has its own utility, you may have to use it. For VISTA, go to the control panel and click on network and sharing center, click on the manage network connections options at the left hand side and then right click the wireless network connection and click on view available wireless network. If the wireless network that you are trying to connect to is secured. You may have to enter the wireless network password for you to be able to get online.

Internet connections

Hello I am sorry you r having this problem, I need to know a little bit more info, Now when you plug in your computer to power cord you loose everything with you internet connection. Do you see the active monitor in the lower right hand side, it would look like a monitor blinking or it may not be blinking. Have you also tried to activate the antenna after you plug in your power cord. There should be a button with an antenna on it the upper part of the pc, You may also go into your control panel and turn it on there, It sounds like its set to shut down the wireless connection when plugged in, its just to opposite as what it should be, usually its when you unplug your computer that the internet connection is lost for power saving reasons, you can also right click the connection monitor in the lower right and properties and repair after the power is plugged in of course give that a try and see if that works for you, I hope it help you out with your problems
