Try cleaning the lens, the optics that read the disc might be failing, the writeing optics seem to be working fine.

How do i fix the cd holder when it is stuck

The gears usually dry up or get stuck with hair. You need to open the panel and re-grease it.

ION LP2CD LP vinyl record records to Internal Fla...

Same just happened to me. I was using SONY CD-R audio 80 min recordable CDs. One burned 3 songs, the other 4 songs before giving me the "CD write failure" message. I tried another brand of CD-R, TDK CD-R, certified plus, and it worked first time. It played on my CD player, on the Ion, etc - works. Maybe the CD burner in the device is very picky as to the brand or quality of the CD-R media? Try a TDK or other to see if that will do it.

VCR LP/EP compatibility

Vdumitre -

No, not usually. If you've recorded a tape at LP and put it another machine that doesn't have LP, it usually won't play properly. Some machines that have only SP/EP will do this, but they are got scarce as more manufacturers dropped the LP speed. Your best bet is to buy an older one from a thrift shop or a garage sale, making sure that it will play LP. Then, copy your older LP tapes to SP or EP (Run the OUT from the LP unit to the IN on the SP/EP unit, and choose "record from line in", "aux", or "rear input").

Thanks,

Mikomi ET858 digital voice recorder suddenly switched from saving files as .WAV to .ACT, whatever that is. Can play interviews on machine itself, but can't save them to computer. Help! How do I switch it...

Hi all,

I recently bought this little headache of a dictation machine to help me with my Law revision. Had similar problems but have worked out the following:

The machine appears to have 2 modes of recording - LP and SP. When the machine is in LP mode, it appears to be a format for the machine itself to allow for longer record time. Because of this individual format it will not play back on computers. If, however, you change it to SP mode (from what I can ascertain from the VERY unhelpful user manual is 'high quality recording' i.e. standard WAV format) it saves the file in a .wav format which is playable on computers.

To switch it from LP to SP (this is on my dictation machine only - i take absolutely no responsibility for breakages etc):

Turn on
Press 'M' to cycle to 'REC' mode
Use the Volume control to cycle between SP, SP VOR (no idea what VOR is i'm afriad), LP and LP VOR
Record as usual.

I've made test recordings on both SP and SP VOR and both save to WAV format and can be played back through a computer.

If anyone knows what VOR is then please shout back.

Hope this helps.

Crosley CR2406A will not record CDs properly.

I had this problem when recording CD-Rs. I switched to CD-RWs and didn't have the problem again.

Lg dr275 does not recagnize any disk

This can be as simple as a dirty lens or more drastic like defecitve optics. If you can access the lens, try cleaning it using a cotton swab and alcohol. Next try playing a music CD. If the CD willplay OK, but hte DVD will not, then the optics are failing and will need to be replaced.

Keep us posted.

Tapes not playing

Hey do the tapes play at all? sometimes some tapes recorded
on other machines won't play on others. maybe you need to adjust the tracking on the VCR you are playing it on. If the tape
was recorded on a VCR that is misaligned it might not play back
on another VCR. Also the tape may have been recorded on a
super VHS VCR in et (extended definition) mode if so they won't play on just any VCR. If the picture looks scrambled like a
premium channel on analog cable then it's probably recorded in et.
and if its recorded on super VHS tape it may eject out of your VCR.
They don't make these S-VHS vcrs anymore but people still
have them around. There is also Digital VHS they're not
compatible with VHS either. A VHS recorded in et mode will
play on some more expensive vcrs it should say so on the box
or instructions.
