Krups Toaster Oven elements stopped heating up

The heating elements of my Krups FBC1 Toaster Oven (only 3 years old @ $200.00) quit working. I was broiling garlic bread and sensed that the element was at an abnormally high temperature. I tried to stop the broiling process by hitting the STOP button, however it did not turn off. I had to unplug the unit. When I turned it on again to make some toast the following morning, the led light around the START/STOP button lit up, the timer still worked, however the two heating elements did not turn on. I checked the wall socket voltage and everything checked out okay. I'm suspicious it could either be a faulty fuse or thermostat. Can anyone help? Thanks for any advice you can give me. I would like to fix the appliance before trashing it. It was a gift from my family.

I really appreciate your advice and conclusion. What is the alternative to an electronically controlled toaster oven as I'm looking to purchase a replacement? Aren't they all electronically controlled today?

This site is awesome - I'll be passing it on to family. Thanks for your expertise.

If the elements are physically broken, you can order new ones and replace them yourself. I did it 6 years ago and use the oven every day. Here is the how to link:http://www.fixya.com/support/t9721249-ch...

This is all to common . what thought happend did happen . the control board went bad and the elements where stuck on . inside there is a thermal fuse ,it blew out and saved you from haveing a fire but now the oven is dead . if you replaced the fuse it would just do it again and the board cannot be bought so your out of luck . on your next oven stay away from electronic controls . i am shocked you got 3 years out if it ,most go bad mutch sooner

no there not all electronic . as a rule if you stick with turn type knobs and stay with the low price units there are far less or no electronics in them

My toaster oven stopped heating all together.

your heating element has gone bad or there is some bad wiring in the oven itself

to check open up the toaster oven and look at the wires coming from the heating elements inside to the timer on the front panel if there is no bad wiring then the heating elements are bad and the toaster oven needs to be replaced

Bottom elements on DeLonghi AD699 failed.

Solution: buy a new toaster oven. I determined that the manufacturer stopped selling replacement heating elements in 2006, three years after the model year (2003). After market parts makers don't sell the elements for safety and liability reasons. So I got a new one.

either the high voltage regulator is failing (you can test with voltmeter) Or the heating element is bad. You can test power to element.

Cactus Bob Is WRONG. I've had these replaced; and then, when it happened subsequently, bought the part and replaced it myself. You have to take the entire thing apart. but it can be done.

Heating elements

I think this is a common problem with these kind of toaster ovens. Mine isn't a Toastmaster - mine is Cook's Essentials (from QVC), and my upper elements have also warped and split, although mine are curved downwards.
