    Hello,

Can you log into windows or are you getting beeping sounds upon booting the computer? If you can get into windows please Right Click on My Computer and click on Manage. Then click the + next to event viewer and go through the System folder to see if you have any Red X errors if you do could you please tell me what the source is. If you can not get into Windows count the beeps as if it was Morris Code and add it here like (beep beep beep - - - beep) Dashes represent seconds between next beep.

    Thanks,
    ArmyMason

You won't like my "Final Solution". But try this first, it worked for me.
I had the exact same problem. I thought it was due to a Windows update.
I tried a LOT of the offered registry changes and such with no luck at all.
However, I was able to solve the problem by restoring the system to about 30 days previous.
No guarantees but, as I said, I had the exact same problem and spent about a week looking for a solution.
If that doesn't work, my "Final Solution" would be to mention an old saying I was given a long time ago by a wise old Fishing Boat Captain.
"The Lazy Man Works The Hardest". It means sometimes it it easier to just reload Windows than fight a long and tiresome battle. And THEN have to reload Windows anyway! :>)

Computer beeps

If you try to power on your computer and nothing happens but a bunch of beeps there is something you can do. The beeps actually mean something. To make sure you can hear the beeps check in the bios options. If there is an option for a silent boot you won't hear any beeps. If you hear one beep every time your computer starts then you don't have to worry about this.

If you want to check this setting refer to my other tip on how to enter bios and change boot settings.

If you try to boot your computer and nothing shows up on your monitor do these steps first.
1-Check all your cables in the back of the computer.
2-check your power source and power cord to the monitor
3-try another monitor if possible
4-If on a power bar try to turn off the power bar and reset the breaker

If you try to boot your computer and nothing happens and you hear beeps look at this website. The beeps you hear are actually telling you what is wrong. Look at the website by clocking on the link below and click on the computer beep codes link. If you want to scroll down past the link it will show you bios codes to enter the bios in your computer

P5KPL-AM speaker beep

Hello, I am the technician that will be assisting you today. My name is Norman-Wynne Damstra.

Welcome to Fixya, Sadael.

Yes some-times the case/computer chassis does not have an internal BIOS/CMOS beep code speaker built in.

So what you will need to do is go to your local computer store and purchase a mainboard beep code speaker. You may even find it online at your favorite computer store.

The modern speaker is very small compared to the older mainboard beep code speakers.

Your computer will continue to work without the speaker, the beep code speaker is there to help diagnose/troubleshoot problems when they occur.

Take care!

Double-click the "problem" device.
Click "install device-driver".
Click "yes" to "allow the installer to access the Internet to search for updated drivers".

My computer freezes and makes a long beeping sound then no signal to monitor, beeping continues till manually shut down.

There are several reasons why a computer will lock up. You can view the HP help file HERE for your computer. You can also view the beep codes for your computer (yes, those noises mean something :D ) HERE. The instructions are step by step for your machine and should be fairly easy to follow.

Good Luck

I'm having an aspire m5640. it does not boot. beep?

Yes if there are error on the system you should most likely hear a beep most of the time when there is no beep it is due to bad ram. Some times beep codes can't detect bad ram and your computer will not boot.
Open the computer up and see how many ram chips you have if you have more than one take the one in dimm slot 2 out. There should be small writing next to the slots 1,2,3,4 or Dim 1 dim 2 ect ect. you always want to keep slot 1 with ram so start by pulling out the ram out of slot 2 and turn your computer on. If your computer still dosn't post pull the ram out of slot 1 out and insert the ram that was in slot 2 into slot 1 if still no luck it's most likely your board but the best way to test this is to know that you have a good working stick of ram you could purchase one and if it dosnt work bring it back ... theres also the chance of your video card being bad but there is usualy a post code for it (beep code)
if you have no clue on what ram looks or how to open your computer just google for installing ram on a computer and you should find step by step guides

WHEN i turn on computer i hear 3 beeps and thats it

Hello davidm08868,

Three beep codes at power on self-test (POST) usually indicate a general hardware failure. If the bios is AMI, the three beeps mean Base 64K RAM failure. If that's the cae then try reseating the memory cards.

Here's a web link that has some information about Bios beep Codes: http://webpages.charter.net/dperr/beepcode.htm

If this solution is helpful please click 'YES' by 'Was this helpful?' below.

Have a great day,

Reporting wrong times on my emails

You probably need to check your time zone settings in Yahoo...

on the upper right-hand corner just above your yahoo mail inbox, you'll see an options link... select mail options.

when you get to that page, click on 'accounts' in the left-hand menu, and once in that page, click on add or edit an account.

in this next page, click on account information, you may be prompted for your password before continuing....

once you get in there... look for 'Time Zone' and see if yours isn't some hours ahead of what it should be.... if so, click on the edit link for that section, and change this to your correct time zone.

that should do the trick!
