Hi Ragi.

Try first differetn locations to ensure is no reception problem.
If the Garmin has no reception try first a master reset to ensure the Garmin is not stuck on some setting problem.
To do master reset turn the unit off, then press and hold down the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Keep holding and turn the unit on at the same time. Hold down ten seconds or so until the screen will ask if you want to delete all data.

If no reception after this, then the contact to antenna is lose.

Hi,

You need to update your GPS locator files; Do an update plugged into your PC. It will download the latest satallite positions. These files need to be regularly updated. Once updated you will find the satellites again.

Other GPS devices use similar methods,

I hope this helps,

Thanks.

There is a catch.
If your Garmin is unable to locate the satellite,

Occassionally these units will simply fail to find any satellites when first turned on. The solution is to turn off the unit and turn it back on. The second time it always seems to work...

Or lets try the other way ;)

If you have moved more than 300 miles or had the unit off for several months you will need to reinitialize it before you can use it.

If this does'nt work....There is a hardware issue. Cannot be resolved. One of the experts already mentioned the site address.Find out the nearest service centre and replace that defective component that might be a defective battery.

Thanks for using Fixya.

The reset button on my Garmin c340 is behind the plastic trim around the front. You will see a small indent for a fingernail or something like that along the inside at the top lift up at that point.

It appears the receiver is disconnected, faulty, or not working.
The gps antenna, internal, may also be disconnected or cord cut. receiver may not be getting power or responding properly.

The only solution I see to this problem is to test the receiver unit inside that its functioning or not, if you are not able to test it, I would suggest garmin repairs right away.

How is your warranty? takeing it apart most likely voided the warranty.

Garmin repair in this case will probably cost.

Consider the garmin repair estimate to the price of a new unit.

This has been a problem with the c340. If you go to http://www.garmin.com and go to their support page, you can email them about the problem and they should replace your unit for free. You just have to pay the shipping to get it there. They may even agree to do it as a warranty thing, even if your warranty has expired.

Plug your unit into your computer with the USB cable. Once it’s plugged in, you’ll want to go to My Computer in your start menu or from your desktop and double-click on the Nuvi. At this point, you should see a few folders, but you’ll want to double-click on the Garmin folder. Here, you’ll want to look for the “GPX” folder and you’ll double-click on that. In this folder, you’ll want to drag and drop the file titled “Current.gpx” to your desktop to copy it. To do that, you’ll want to start with the unit turned off and press and hold on the upper left hand corner of the touch screen. While holding the touch screen, power the unit on and continue to hold. You should get a message that asks if you really want to go into maintenance mode and you’ll want to select “Yes”. At this point, you’ll want to select “clear user data” and then select “Yes” when it asks you if you really want to clear user data.

Garmin is unresponsive. Won't power up or turn

I have a Garmin c340 that would not turn on.
I found the hidden reset button and it works now.

With the display unit facing you, the aluminum cover plate has the the word GARMIN on it. Use you fingernail under the word Garmin and the cover plate comes off. The left part of the cover stays attached to GPS and the right side lifts up exposing the RESET button. I pressed RESET and POWER together and it works now.

My Garmin C340 is dead!!!!

I had the same problem on a trip. Required two fixes and once I did this the unit worked fine.
1. Replace the fuse in the car adapter (reason it wasn't charging when I used it in the car).
2. See the users manual on page 31 regarding resetting your C340.

Have you tried a hardware RESET? The button is hidden behind the front panel, which snaps off by a fingernail slot located directly under the GARMIN logo on the front panel. * Use caution removing and reinstalling the front panel... it's somewhat fragile.

If this does not help, you need to try to run all updates (there may be several!) using Garmin's Webupdater. (Connect to computer with USB cable first.)

Hope this helps!!

Location says I'm in Kansas

I got stuck in Kansas also. But, now I'm not in Kansas anymore! Are you trying to set your Garmin up indoors? That was my first problem. Go outdoors and try it. I did that and Toto and I were still in Kansas. SO, I pluged it inot my cigarette lighter and drove down my driveway. It took a few minutes for Garmin to locate a satalite, but once it did I was all set. No problems since, hope it works for you. I really enjoy using my Garmin. I'm one who ofter ends up on the road less traveled so, Garmin has come to my rescue a few times already. Have fun and say hello to the Wizard of Oz for me!
