Question about Compaq Evo N800c Notebook

1 Answer

Mr. I need to replace the screen on my Evo n800c. I have the new screen it comes with the entire housing to where it screws into the bottom portion of the laptop where the keyboard is. I am having a problem getting the bottom case apart to switch out the screens. I have taken out all of the screws that I can find and it still wont separate.

There is no need to remove the bottom case.
There are screws on the back edge that fixes the LCD hinges to the base of the laptop.
Remove the plastic panel on the laptop between the LCD and the Fn keys/LED lights/push buttons. You most likely need to fold the LCD flat to remove this panel. This panel is cliped in place, take care to unclip it, start at one end and work along to release it.
There may be further screws that fix the hinge to the base. Also there are cables that connect the LCD to th motherboard, be careful to remove the cables before you remove the LCD.

Blank LCD screen on Compaq n800c laptop

First instinct would tell me that your LCD has gone bad. A refurbished replacement LCD should run around $300-$325 give or take.

Keep us posted, good luck

I have a half white screen and the other half is usable..!

You mom will not kill you, the fault was probably not caused by you (you can tell her I told you)..
The fault most likely a faulty video chip on the laptop or a faulty connector between the laptop motherboard and the LCD screen. You can connect the laptop to an external monitor and the power the laptop up, if the image on the monitor is OK then the video chip is OK.
If the laptop is new then it should be under warranty, get it fixed or replaced.

Try setting your resolution to 1400x1050, or the max that is available.
Also, use only 60Hz.
Use the native resolution of the screen, otherwise the laptop will interpolate pixels and make text look fuzzy.
