Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

When I bought the X540 from Circuit CIty, I asked all the right questions but I couldn't quite accept their answers. For example, I'm accustomed to amps with a stereo input (ground, left ch., right ch)and one or more outputs from speakers. What stymies me is the lack of an input connector on the amp itself. How can I adapt this black box to my HP Pavilion to amplify the audio?

There should be a three connector cable (green, black, and orange plugs) that will connect to your computers audio card.

How much did the onkyo ht-r500 cost new

I've seen one person claim that they paid $799 quite a few years ago when it was sold as new at the now defunct Circuit City.

Can I connect my Dual turntable to pioneer VSX D712 receiver. I tried connecting it to a preamp (bought from Circuit City) and then to AUX, but all I get is a loud hum

I presume you bought a PHONO preamp from RS. That should be all you need. Is the TT otherwise functional? Loud hum is usually an ungrounded or unshielded signal cable. Phone cartridges create such a small primary signal that any external airborne electrical noise entering the circuit will be very large in comparison. Check cables and make sure the headshell is locked in correctly on the tonearm. Examine the small cables connecting the cartridge. Dual = good turntables. I have a CS1249 from the 70's.

HELLO, just bought a fender HRD 410 AMP AND DISCOVERED THAT THE REVERB DOES NOT FUNCTION ! WHAT'S UP ?

Hi Fenderman.

Damn, you gotta hate that. First thing, do you have any recourse with the outfit you just bought the amp from? I guess not if you are asking in here. There is not a whole lot that stops the reverb in these amps. First things to check would be that the connections to the rev-eb tank are ok, and the cables to them not damages, and the terminations to the RCA plugs are good. Check that the reverb tank is connected thew right way round also. If everything so far checks out, and yourself, or an electronics savvy mate then time to download the circuit from here

Then from there, pull the chassis out of the box, and check/look for dry/cracked solder joints about the reverb Pot, I would check the voltages about U2, TL072, and even just change it out if you are unsure. The reverb tank could also be down, hard to check this easily without swapping it out, if you have(maybe time for the repair shop here) a CRO, then you can sniff off the audio going in and out of the tank to be sure that is it functioning.

Anyway, that is a rundown on what may be wrong with the HRD. If you have any questions, more that happy to answer them and continue to help you out. a FixYa rating is a great reward for my time to talk this through with you. Cheers!

Take it to any Circuit City Store. They have an Authorized Service Center in Dallas. Any Circuit City would take it and send it for service.

I have it all connected but it still wont work and there is power going through the ground wire on my amp for my car

Good question BUT, not much information to go on. "Won't Work" is a bit generic so how about asking if the head unit's display works? Do you have an additional amp connected? Does the amp power up? Does the head unit accept and play CDs? Does the radio tune?

Please "fill in the answers" and we'll go from there.
Thanks for your question
