Kenmore 82372110 70 series heavy duty plus won't spin
I have a kenmore 82372110 70 series heavy duty plus washing machine that drains but will not spin. Before it quit spinning, it kept getting out of balance and I would have to rearrange the clothes so it would spin. I'm not sure how old the washer is because I bought it used.

How could the belt be in working order if the drum doesn't spin? Check to see if the belt has come off the motor. If the motor runs but your dryer doesn't spin, the belt is off. If the motor runs with the belt on but it still won't spin then you'll have a lot of black smoke because your drum is jammed. In other words, there are a number of things that could be wrong, but not very many.
The electric motor my have failed or a part called a capacitor could be the problem?
The capacitor is part of the starting circuit of the electric motor, if this fails the motor will not start therefore the washing machine won't spin or agitate.
