Re: my computer is not showing the sansa clip logo when...
Depending on how many songs that you loaded the last time you used the player, it may stay on "Writing" for quite some time. Eventually, it will go away and go back to charging.
Make sure the hold switch was not accidentally engaged.
To force recognition:
disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version). -Tha Mp3 doctor

it's supposed to refresh database anytime you make changes to your clip. also, check in the settings what usb mode you're in as well as "my computer" to see if the device shows up when it's plugged in. as for transfering media, if you want to use a program to do it for you, use mtp (under settings on your clip). if you want to manually drag and drop, put it in msc (also in settings). also in msc, it doesn't really matter where you decide to drop the files onto the player, although there should already be a music folder to help keep things organized.
