My fridge (Estate TS25AFXKQ03) started to fail a few days ago with the same symptoms as victoriadavi's. Both sides are not cold, it's blowing air but it's not cold.

I googled "compressor test" yielded no help, is there a link?

    Many thanks.

Your compressor is not operating. It may be easy to fix with a new capacitor or start relay. Look on the forum for information on how to test.

Estate TS25AFXKQ FRIG makes a loud humming / vibrating sound when it kicks on. I do not see any visual problems. Had a similar issue a year ago but it stopped. Now it last long time.

Hello Gene,

I am so sorry to take so long to answer your question i was offline but suppose i was shown as online sorry again.

Now then is it the compressor that is making the loud humming noise and does it repeat it several times a hour/day ??

The buzzing humming noise is coming from the compressor due to the start relay being burnt and the relay should be replaced. The relay clips onto the compressor and is held in place by a wire retainer under a plastic cover on the side of the compressor.

The part number for that relay is 8201786 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
searspartsdirect.com
apdepot.com
repairclinic.com
apwagner.com
partselect.com

If you should need further assistiance please replay and i will glad to help you,

A buzzing or humming noise just started. I checked the ice maker and don't see a problem. The noise seems to be coming from the freezer side but I hear it on the refrig side as well.

I have a Whirlpool side by side frig that was built in 1999. Model number ed25rfxfw01. Just today it started making a buzzing noise that is drawing extra electricity. So far it seems to be still working...

the noise your hearing is the compressor trying to start due to either a bad start relay or a stuck compressor. on whirlpool refrigs the most common problem is bad relays this is a very easy part to replace and the part is in expensive. less than 70 dollars. the part number is 8201786 and the kit has very good instructions for doing it your self. if you have any questions please ask thanks Peyton

Service engine soon indicator on and a buzzing/whining noise.

i recommend that you take it into auto-zone or a car shop asap. from what you have described the ticking as, it sounds like a bottom knock. as for the whine i don't know.

HELP! Frigidaire Fridge FRS26HF7BB0 losing coldness and buzzing

That noise is typical when the compresor is trying to start but it doesn't , it could be the condensing fan motor that doesn't work and the compresor goes off on overload ; a common problem with this compresors is the relay (mounted at the side of the compresor behind a black plastic cover) goes bad , this you can replace is about $20 , and if still the compresor won't start you will need to put another one and this is an expensive job.

A buzzing noise comes on every 2 mins for about 45 seconds

2 things, eithere the ice maker is "calling for water" and your not hiiked to a water supply. in which case simply turn of ice maker till you restore water to the machine.
ohter noise sounds if perhaps the compressor is not cycling correctly, overheating, nad when tries to restart you hear it try for 10 secs or so, then click off. in which case youll seee the freezer stating to lose "cool" especially "wet ice" and/or soft ice cream products.. if this is the case you can try to clean the coils under/behind the refrig, and may need to replace the starting device mounted to the side of the compressor
