I took a picture on my sony camera with low battery, and it turned off. So I charged it and turned it back on. The camera read, 'error formatting memory stick'. I can format it, but that will erase all my photos. I tried putting the memory card into my laptop, and hooking the camera up to the laptop, but neither have worked. I'd like to try and save the photos if possible.

Yes, you need to have memory stick because camera has limited internal memory that can store few pictures only. Put new memory card, format it through camera Menu and copy internal memory pictures to memory stick, take our memory card from camera and delete internal memory pictures either one by one or format internal memory through camera Menu. Thanks.
i have the same problem..
I have a Sony Cybershot DSC T70 and it keeps saying "Reinsert memory stick" whenever I turn on the camera or slide down the camera lid. Also, whenever I try to view the pictures on my laptop it shows "Please reinsert the memory stick" something along those lines. As I have been researching for the solution, I would have to format the memory card. However, I wouldn't want to lose the pictures as I just took many as from the holiday last week. The only problem is the memory card, I tried using another memory card and it works fine with the camera. There is nothing wrong with the camera.\r\nCan someone please help me how to solve the memory stick problem? It would be great. Ty.
Format memory stick through Format option in camera Menu. Please note that all data on memory stick will be deleted by formatting it and memory stick will be refreshed. Now take pictures and check does camera saves/ store. Thanks.
The Error message C:13:XX indicates that the Camera cannot read or write data on the Memory Stick or an unformatted Memory Stick is inserted in the Camera or the inserted Memory Stick cannot be used with your Camera or the data is damaged.
1. Try reinserting the Memory Stick several times.
2. Format the Memory Stick in the Camera.
*Formatting a Memory Stick will delete all the data saved in the Memory Stick.
Insert the Memory Stick in the Camera, Turn ON the Camera. Press MENU -> Memory Stick Tool -> Format -> OK.
Memory Stick compatibility information for you Camera:
Please take out memory stick from camera and power up camera and check still gives format error? If no further error then put memory stick back in camera and press Menu >> Format >> OK to format memory stick. That will delete all data on memory stick and refresh it for new photos.
The error you are getting is because of either System Error or Internal Memory Error.
I think you might need to take it to Sony since it is brand new.
But Before that, I suggest that you take out its memory stick, the battery etc and keep the camera like that for about 15 minutes. Then only reinsert the battery (fully Charged) and try to power on. If you are lucky, you might not need to go to Sony
Check your battery connector or terminal & clean if necessary, check also your memory stick connectivity. It may be caused by no connectivity with the memory stick... ^_^
i think this problem arises when you fail to regularly format the card ie. take lots of pictures and delete some and repeat the process over and over instead of downloading every session and formatting the card causing coruption. Also if you've bought pro duo memory stick off ebay poss. its a very good forgery (again i've been caught out by this).
