I go on msn and want to go on webcam but it doesnt work all it says is
We couldn't start your camera device. Please check that your camera is not currently in use by another program, and then try again. But i have no other programmes running.
Same problem with acer crystal eye. worked for about two days when new. Will never, never, never buy another acer. a real piece of junk.
Are you running Vista?
I had the same problem, and when I installed the service pack for Vista, and made sure I had the latest version of MSN Messenger by reinstalling it from the msn home page, it started to work!
Now, my problem is that I cant adjust any of the settings on it, other than Brightness, saturation, sharpness, gamma and backlight. I'd love to be able to use the Contrast and ColorEnable, and the low light compensation options which are there, but greyed out. Anyone help with this?

I've just bought a 7720 and had the same prob. Because i had a limited software support i phoned them and they told me to remove the sample pictures from the pictures folder and any other photo's in there and try it. And it worked, i don't know what it did but i can now use my webcam with MSN

My first reccomendation is to get the newest driver pack for that webcam specifically.
Before installing, I would uninstall the webcam drivers you currently have, reboot, then clean install the new drivers.
A lot of the time, it's a driver error that can cause that kind of problem.

I had the same problem and just reinstall version 8.5 of messenger and it works ! good look.

Adjust your browser security setting to allow webcams if you have flash micro media you will see the camra security but if you go to internet setting you can ajust the broswer setting from there .make sure that your firewall allow your webcam .then let me know how you did

I can open the little toolbar that sits at the side of the screen but when I click on it to open it, the program runs for less than a second then disappears. It was working fine four days ago with the SKYPE application. Have looked for other applications but none running and also rebooted a couple of times.

iv just upgraded my msn to the latest one, and it seems to have thrown my webcam off, i also have the crystle cam, but it works by itself but doesnt seem to want to work with msn, and when i connect up i get a black screen an no one can see me
is there a way i can fix this ?

downloaded the driver from acer.com . unzipped it..
and popup states: cannot find acer crystal cam, please plug in.
lol the damn thing is built in...and it use to work too.. never dropped the netbook... YET...
