Novell iPrint Error code 126

By Horner - usenet poster

Dear All,

I am using windows XP(Novell Client for windows 4.90) and have installed
Novell iPrint Client v02.02.00 and its possible to see all printers
avialable and also installs all HP and Kycera without problem. But when
I try to install a plotter (HP DesgnJet 800 PS Plotter - PS3-42 Driver)
its starting downloading from the network but rather quickly gets an
error AND its error reads as:

error message: The specified module could not be found
error group:windows
error code: 126

However, i can install this driver in Windows NT PC with the same
driver. For your information, i have re-installed Novell Client for
windows 4.90 and makes no differnce.

Any ideas

Regards

Girma

To delete printer driver files in Windows XP:
  1. Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
  2. On the File menu, click Server Properties.
  3. On the Drivers tab, click the printer driver that you want to delete, and then click Remove.
Then remove here the printer driver of the not fuctioning printer. After this is done you can install the printer with iprint.

I have the fix. There is a TID on this kinda of, sort of. It has to do
with you path in your environment variables. I did have all the pathings
that was needed in the TID but my path had become to long of IPP and it
was truncating some of the pathing. I deleted my pathing so that it only
read: "%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%
SystemRoot%\system32\nls;%SystemRoot%\system32\nls\ENGLISH;" and now
everything works. This needs to be reported to engineering and fixed.
There is no reason that a windows APP should be using the PATH varible to
find it's own DLLs. This should be done through the registry. Novell
has a bad habit of mixing old DOS programming with Windows programming
and it only screws the user over in the end.

After reading Solution #2, I removed some uneeded search paths from my PATH environment variable to make it shorter. I then rebooted the PC and iPrint printers installed without error 126. I believe the length of the environment variable "PATH" was too long.

I just hade the same problem and symtoms. The path statement of working
pc's and the non-working ones were the same, so that couldn't be the
problem. however i just managed to resolve the problem on one machine, i
need to wait for another occurence of the problem to verify the strategy.

recent changes are some forced run applications:
1. cutepdf deinstall using a snappshot (removing cutepdf only files and
registry)
2. pdfcreator install (using the executable and ini file for silent
installation)
3. groupwise 7.1 client install (upgrade from 6.5)

these programs have been installed on all pc's, the print error symtom
described in earlier posts occures.

actions:

the pop-ups are quoted from memory, so this is not the exact message
1: not possible to pint on OCE printer
2: start - config - printers -- 3: pop-up: driver is not installed, would you like tto instal the
printerdriver (yes-no); i choosed no
4: printer properties are incomplete. only the standard tabs are visible.
repeated step 2 and 3 but choosed "yes"
5: dhis driver is not signed - error -- 6: file not found... -- 7: deleted printer on workstation
8: reinstalled printer using iprint page on novell server
9: message: error group: windows - error code: 126
10: Hp printer installed using iprint -- 11: installed a different model OCE printer -- 12: installed the printer that didnt work --
i do not understand...

I recommend installing the specific language drivers, some drivers have multiple languages built in, and you can choose the language. This resolved all issues installing dell 1720 and 1815dn pritners on our network, examp: c:\dell\drivers\rxxxxxx\drivers\printer\ps\\english\winxp\setup.inf

My issue was fixed by copying the framedyn.dll into the c:windows\system 32\wbem folder.

I have reinstalled the client and removed and reinstalled the 3.12 IPP
client. I go to another workstation and everything works perfectly, so
this is a client problem. Here is a section of the IPP error log:

Also now none of my IPP printers work or can be installed so it is not a
Dell driver problem.

Thanks
