I have an older reddy heater pro 100 kerosene space heater,

It quit the other day and i cleaned the plug and replaced the fuel filter and air filters and screens. it now fires but seems to be getting to much fuel, it smoked for awhile and straightened out, but now when it fires it still seems like to much fuel and it also back fired inside the heater when i shut it off for about 5 minutes and turned it backed on. the nose cone is completely glowing don't know if that is common. both the fuel and air mixture screws seem to be screwed in all the way. would greatly appreciate any help thanks

You Must set the pump pressure quickly! If allowed to run with the nose cone a "bright" cherry red the welds will deterioate to the point that the end will separate from the combustion chamber. Individual sheet metal parts of the chamber are not available.

The heeter stops after 10 sec evey time i have cleaned the air filliter and new flue

All Pro heaters and Reddy Heaters are the same.

This is a classic reddy heater problem. They use the bleed air to determine the pump pressure and ultimately the mix of the air/fuel. Once the filter gets dirty the relationship changes and the unit gets too much fuel. The solution is to get a new filter and the pressure gauge necessary to set the pressure after installing the new filter.

I have a tip at which explains the problem, where to get the parts and how to complete the repair.

Thanks for using FixYa and the generous rating.

Reddy Heater not firing

Take air preassure from an air hose to turn the fan blades to loosen everything up. Time for afull service, like change the vanes in the pump, 3- filters fuel--2 air.
