Question about HP LaserJet 1020 Printer

Why will the HP Laser Jet 1020 not print?

Paper feeds through printer and paper is blank. Changed toner and rebooted everything and still not printing. Why?

    I finally found the problem the laser scanner pin was broken off. It is located on the lid whater the toner cartridge, right side beside the front latch. But, I fixed it by placing a paper clip there. It presses the button when the lid is closed. Apparently, the lid can not be purchased.

This is a usual problem with the early models of printers. if you go onto control panel and then printers for the properties then print test page. if this prints fine then you will have to use the add/remove programmes to remove printer software. then delete the printer and install again but not from disc as windows has a package which will do it for you. leave disc in drawer and dont run. just search for the drive whilst installing printer. if this doesnt solve your problem then use the software which you will have to install again. if this doesnt occur then take cartridges out and check if they are correct ones or compatibles as hp not too compatible friendly due to counters.

Just some things to try...

First thing to do is put the printer CD in the carriage and try to print again. Before you press the print button cancel the CD if the printer CD starts to auto run. This is in case your computer is looking for files it cannot find. Sometimes you get lucky when you try to print and the computer finds and grabs the files you need off of the CD. May not work but always worth a try...

Not sure if you have re-installed lately. If not, you may want to see if your printer CD will do a "repair" on your printer.

Check your printer software find the option to "check for updates". Your drivers may need an update. You may need to go to the HP site for this.

Search the HP site - First find your printer on the site. Then you will find downloads and help for your particular printer.

If your printer has a "Toolbox option" (i.e. troubleshooting) try that. If there is no Toolbox with your software the help option will run you through a troubleshooter.

You may want to uninstall and re-install. If you have spy ware or a virus scanner sometimes these apps. will grab files they think are suspect when it is actually files you need for your computer or say printer. So if you have any apps. like that go to company site or get in touch with them. Ask them how to ensure their software is not interfering with printer drivers etc... or other apps. that may just stop working for no reason.

How do I correct error h5 on a Sharp printer AR-5620N?

Hello Sudhir,
The error code H5 means there was at least 5 pages in a row where the paper did not come out of the printer correctly (most likely paper jams. The following manual will direct you on the steps needed to clear the code, please note especially page #8-3

Why does canon MP258 printer with scanner can't scan japanese yen paper bill amount 10,000. I tried it over 10 times but it stops,. And when i tried US paper bill, it works well. I need some explanation...

When you scan with any scanner it utilised the software with "Optical Character Recognition functions, usually abbreviated to OCR -> OCR is a field of research in pattern recognition, artificial intelligence and computer vision." to scan and record the scanned object, sometimes it does not or cannot recognise certain symbols or characters because of man made software & hardware have its limitations too.
