Restart the Computer and keep tapping the F8 key till you see the advance boot options, You should be tapping the key as soon as you see the manufactures screen. Once you get the advance boot options -> Select the option which says Repair your Computer once its Selected click next on the Keyboard Layout Option, Now it would ask you for a User name and Password, Click on the User name Tab and select User/Owner extra and Type in your password if the computer has one if not you can leave that field blank, then click on next, Now on the recovery options screen you would be able to choose System Restore, Command Prompt extra. I think with the issue your facing System Recovery would be the best Option to do.

Good Luck!!!!!

Hi, unfortunately, when you changed the formatting to (Shrink); this changes the Original settings from the Factory settings. You may need to make a copy using the factory / default setting firsts; then change the settings to shrink formatting, making a separate copy to CD. Thanks paul7of9

Yahoo mail error 999

I have seen this happen when a router stores a "CACHED" address for a website. The only solution is to power off the router (reboot wont always resolve).

Other things to check:
- Make sure the Comcast and Buffalo routers are not using the same subnet.
- Try to use an alternate DNS on the Buffalo, 8.8.8.8 is a good one (its googles DNS)

Wifi not working

Could be your router, could be your laptop. If other devices can connect to your wifi, then it is your laptop, if not, then it is your router. If it is your router, check all physical connections and power of course, make sure it is plugged in. If it is your device, and all other devices cannot connect to the wifi at your place either, but can connect at other places with wifi, it is either your router, or your ISP. If it is your laptop, then you can perform a system restore, which may correct the problem. If that doesn't work, look up the support/drivers section for your particular model from the manufacturers website, down the drivers for your laptop Wifi card, and reinstall the drivers. The support section at the website will also show you how to perform a system restore.

Netgear wifi router

1) does it lock up completely or will it work hard lined when wifi fails?
2) do all devices wireless fail or just a single device?
3) do you lose connection to the wireless completely or keep the connection but lose access to the internet? (confusing but very different to me)

in the end you could narrow down the problem but if you have already reset to factory defaults and set back up again and again then it may be time to retire that old router.

I can not connect to the Internet. I have WiFi connection but can't do anything else

Plug your computer/laptop directly into router. Can you get to the Internet then?
If you CANNOT get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router, reboot your router. If it doesn't have a power switch, unplug it. Leave it unplugged. Next, you need to figure out if you have another modem for DSL or Cable. If you do have another DSL or Cable modem, unplug that device to. After 5 minutes has elapsed for both devices being unpowered, plug in the DSL or Cable modem to the power source. Keep the router unplugged from power. After your DSL or Cable modem has powered up for 5 minutes, plug your router into the power source. Wait a few minutes. Reboot your computer/laptop. Try the wireless connection again.
If you CAN get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router. Reboot your computer. Try to connect again. If you cannot connect after rebooting, make sure you are connecting to YOUR OWN wireless access point and not someone else's.
Do you have other computers/laptops/wifi devices that CAN/CANNOT connect to your wireless / access the Internet?

My husband was given an old Dell laptop and it has a Lynksys Wireless Adapter card in the side, model WPC54G, and I am unable to connect it to my netgear router?

Does the laptop detect the WiFi of the netgear router ? If not, plug a PC to the router and access the interface to ensure that the SSID is not hidden.

If the WiFi is detected, the problem might be with the security key used. Again, in the interface, note down the security key, in the wireless section of the router. Then, when attempting to connect to the WiFi, enter the security key as noted (Capital letters if any, etc).

You might also try to configure the WiFi connection manually, without using the wizard.

Another issue might be conflicting software. If a software is installed by the manufacturer of the WiFi component, it may conflict with Windows' WiFi manager. You will have to indicate to either Windows or the software to NOT manage network connections, then use the other (i.e. if you tell Windows not to manage wireless networks, you will have to use the manufacturer's software)

FOUND AVAILABLE WIFI BUT CAN'T CONNECT

Hello, some wifi routers won't allow a new connection a certain time after it's been running as a security feature...you either have to press a button on router to start the connection process, or reboot router. Check your router docs for further information.
p.s. the above assumes you have got your security key set up correctly.
