I have a garmin Nuvi 300 which has worked fine for a couple of years but I just turned this on as normal and the touchscreen does not respond. I tried a reset unsuccessfully. I tried rebooting and I get a screen which says press dot this seems to respond but the dot moves around the edge of the screen and never goes to the centre and just keeps on going

Re: Touch screen does not respond
Step 1. Turn your Nuvi unit off, remove any SD cards from the SD
card slot and make sure that the unit is not plugged into any computer. Step 2. Place a fingertip on the upper left hand corner of the touch
screen and keep it there while turning the unit on, a prompt should read
" Do you really want to start in maintenance mode?" Step 3. Select the yes button. Step 4. Enter your PIN if enabled. Step 5. Main Maintenance Mode screen should have 4 selections:
Clear User data
Clear Waypoints Step 6. After some selections the unit should reboot and you check
to verify unit after rebooting.

My Garmin Nuvi 650 would boot up and load maps, but I could not enter my access code. Screen would not respond. Turned off & on a number of times, but still same problem. This occurred on first use after upgrading the maps. Thinking it may have overheated on the dashboard of my truck, I held the device in front of the air conditioner vent for about five minutes to cool it down. When I then turned it on, it worked fine. For the rest of my 3-week vacation, I kept it cool & out of the sun when it was not turned on. No problems after that.
If the Touch Sceen is not responding properly, calibrate the touch screen.. Turn the Nuvi off then back on Slide Power key to the right (lock) Hold your finger on the secrren for 30 seconds until the calibration screen appears Follow the on-screen instructions
