Is the light the "billard ball" one and is it on solid or blinking
Is the drum light on also?
What is the page count on this machine
"clear, density select, clear, density select, dilpay blinks 00 then use arrows for up, zoom for down, to put in 22, press copy then arrow in 05, press copy.. result will be 3x 2 digits repeaed, clear to exit to start of service mode
what is the drum count?, same as above but 12 instead of 05 for second lot of entry
TRy doing clear density, clear density, then 10 copy, can you hear toner motor turning for 30secs?
Dont play in service mode you can damage machine if wrong stuff is put in;)
(clear then clear again to exit all the way out of service mode)
This is usually just a dirty Image Density Sensor.
If you are able to remove the drum unit check that the Image Density Sensor is not dirty or blocked.
The IDS is number '7' in this image:
The error should reset just by switching the machine off/on. The machine will attempt a 'process control' Provided the sensor is OK the machine should work. If there is a large amount of toner dust around the drum and in the machine it would be worth vacuuming this out. Check also that you are using the correct toner.
Enter the serviceman simulation mode, press the keys as follows: Clear → Density select → Clear→ Density select then enter 14 and hit start. This will clear the H4 (low temperature) code. If you still have a problem, the code will come back. Then you will have to replace either the thermastat (fuse), thermistor or possibly the heat lamp.
check the image density setting on the screen, put it at auto or mid way, if it is move it to the lighter side, Printing does not use the density setting. scanning and print do.
let me know if this works
