How do I remove the agitator from an old Hoover 2315L?

Agitator itself just slides on splined shaft. At that age it's undoubtedly "growed" on there and isn't going to be easy to pull in all likelihood. Brute force and awkwardness are about the only tools as it's rarely possible to get any leverage in any place that will do any good and the edge of the agitator itself away from the center is generally to weak to use as a pry point, anyway. Some have a removable cap at the top that can either be unscrewed or pried out depending on the make/model -- if so, you can sometimes from that point actually see the splined shaft and get some solvent down there to help. Unfortunately, ime, the "goop" has always signified a transmission shaft seal failure and nothing less than replacing that seal will solve the problem

Removing kenmore agitator 417.94862302

You do not have agitator dogs in your machine, yours is made by Frigidaire the agitator can be removed by removing the top of the agitator and remove the bolt. It is screwed directly into the transmission shaft, You want to check the belt to see if it is stretch out , just normal from use.

I have a kenmore model 110 top load washer that does not agitate properly. it is very weak. What are the correct ways to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair this?

First thing to do is remove the agitator and see if the splines (ribs) on the agitator or bushing are stripped. The ribs are only plastic and meant to shear under stress to protect the transmission.

Earlier washers have a nut or cap on top of the agitator (may be reverse threaded).
Newer units, the agitator just pulls off.

To remove the agitator take the top off of it(pry off with a screwdriver) using a socket(1/2 or 7/16 inch) and a long enough extension remove the bolt inside the agitator tube. Grasp the agitator under the base and pull the entire base up. You can then clean under the agitator. Not leaving the lid closed when not in use will help(mildew grows in dark damp places). Promptly removing the clothes when the cycle ends and leaving the lid open is probably the best solution.

Weak agitator

Chances are that the motor is not the problem but the clutch is. There is a large nut in the top of the agitator that will need to be removed. It is under a large plastic cap. Once this is out then you can slide the inner tub out. Then you can gain access to the transmission and clutch pack. hope this helps. Good luck.

The slow weak function of the augar

the reason for the "weak agitation " is a bad set of agitator dogs. by removing the center fabric softener cup, you can get to and unscrew the center shaft bolt7/16. after removing the bolt, the agitaor will remove and the agitator dogs canbe replaced. part number 80040.youll need to split the agitator top and bottom to insall them . they simply slide into place.

I am unable to remove the agitator from my Kelvinator K605 washin

Before removing the agitator, unplug the washer to avoid an electrical shock hazard.
The agitator's movement back and forth is important for the cleaning of your laundry. If it doesn't function properly, your clothes won't be as clean as possible. If your agitator does not move, moves only in one direction or its movement is very weak, you will probably need to remove the agitator. Furthermore, in order to inspect the tub for leaks, the clutch assembly, the splines, or to remove the spin drum, you will have to remove the agitator.
he agitator is fastened to the agitator shaft and its movement is driven either by splines or a simple clutch assembly. The splines are usually plastic or rubber nubs on a cylinder that fits over the agitator shaft. If the nubs wear down, the shaft will not turn properly or it will turn weakly. If the agitator is moving in only one direction, the likely cause is the clutch assembly. The clutch has dogs that depress and pop up with each turn. If those dogs are worn, they will not engage properly and the agitator will turn only in one direction.
