Paper jam error on Canon iP6000D

I own a canoniP6000D and it stopped feeding paper. It said on PC screen that it needs paper but it is there. I noticed a different noise when it tried to feed the sheets. It sounded like a mechanical malfunction with the gearing. I looked to see if anything fell into the feed area and saw nothing. I now have the unit apart and it looks like the large gear that drives the paper feed bar is loose but I can't see any broken parts. Does anybody have experience working on this problem. I am pretty good at repairing things.

The large white gear has 2 inner notches in it and that is where the the gray hook goes into. But when I rotate it and get it to the second notch the white gear wobbles and slips.

O.K. replace what, the gear or the hook?

Do you know where to get parts? I emailed canon and they won't sell me parts, they told me to take it to a repair shop!

  • democratsorg Feb 26, 2009

I got to that gear and it appears to be all in tact. I cannot see any broken parts. I am at a loss.

I put this printer back together and I cannot get it to power up. I checked all of the connections and nothing I see is wrong. Is there a trick to get this thing to power up?

Hi Demo.
By the big gear...Do you see a clutch "with a hook like" plate ...check to see if it moves freely.
It sound like manual clutck is slipping .

Thats it.....It should stay locked until the clutch releases it.

See if you can replace it.

The biggest problem is "Where to parts" Canon won't sell parts directly to consumers.

Look for small copy svc company in your area and order through them,

I don't think they will cost that much,

    Good luck .

Then its still OK..Get the clutch & hook (If it doesn't come in the whole set)

As a tech. I'd replace both ..Just a suggestion.

Hang tight ..some one esle will give you second opinion.

Try to hold the 'Power Button" for 5 sec.

Unplug ..check the "Black" big cable see if it completely plugged in...?

My printer says there is a paper jam, yet I removed the paper jam and pressed resume. How can I fix this?

Try power-cycling the printer: Unplug the printer, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. It should clear the paper jam error message. Hope this helps!

Canon Pixma iP 6600D printing problem.. went to print a scanned document .... paper began to feed in askew from autopaper feeder . Printing process stopped. the process was repeated a couple more times...

To fix the paper feed problem, Clean / rub each roller with a damp cloth with a dab of detergent.
Check for paper residue , especially near the paper empty flag,
Then reset the printer:
First power off the printer. Next, while holding STOP/RESET button, power on the printer.
While holding POWER button, release STOP/RESET button. Then push STOP/RESET button twice.
Wait about 20-30 second until the LED shows "0?. Then push STOP/RESET button four times.
Finally push POWER button twice. Last step is to turn off the printer by pressing the POWER button one last time.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joe

3 yellow flashes, then 1 green on a Canon PIXMA Ip4000

3 flashes is a GREAT symptom report. We need some more than that, but it does give us a direction.

If this is a "Service Call Error", it will be accompanied by an on screen message that includes a "6000" error code.
Here are the possible solutions....
- Timing sensor unit (QM2-1213)
- Timing **** disk film (QC1-4833)
- Feed roller ***'y (QL2-0598)
- Platen unit (QM2-1215)
- Logic board ***'y (QM2-1548)*1
- PAPER FEED MOTOR (QK1-0550)

These solutions are not for the novice, but are user servicible for many out there.

If this is a "Operator Call Error", it will also be accompanied by on screen error codes

Paper jam. [1300]
Paper jam in the under guide. [1304]
Paper jam in the rear guide. [1303]
Solution: Remove the jammed paper, and press the Resume/Cancel
button.
OR

Front door closed. [1250] Open the paper output tray.

Canon pc 420 paper feeds only part way

I had the same problem. I found a parts diagram here http://techno-parts.org/canon/220/320_220.php which showed that the springs hold the bar down. On mine, on each side, one of the spring tabs was broken.

I made a metal pin for one side and insert a screw on the other. Be sure and wrap the spring over the nylon bushing.

You do know that you can use 4 x 6 photo paper in the paper feed? or else you have to tuck it into that little try under the printing outlet and be sure to click the change of feed button on the upper right of the console.
