Am I correct in thinking that Netbook is pretty new?
I really do not know without knowing the entire model number, though.
Stating Acer Chromebook 11.6, is just stating the model series.
Full details would be like example; Acer Chromebook C710-2055 11.6.
Or,
Acer Chromebook C710-2847.
From what I read both came out in 2013.
The last one from Bestbuy, if I am correct, and if memory serves they are out of business.
Point?
Return to Acer, have them repair it. They better pay shipping back to you, also.
IF, a Bestbuy netbook, obviously it can\'t be returned to them.
It\'s on Acer, now.
They don\'t want to honor repair?
If you are in the US, contact the State Attorney Generals Office, and see if they have a Consumer Division. If not ask them what department you need to speak to.
SAGO doesn\'t play around. I have heard Up To a $10,000 fine a day.
Better Business Bureau? Sure, and I\'m Brad Pitt.
I wouldn\'t waste my breath. (Oh, did I say that outloud? lol!)
I know the UK, and Australia have an entity like this also.
No?
Not feasible? Must repair yourself? OK.
We can do.
The problem is either the graphics chipset, Video Cable, or LCD screen.
Netbook OFF, monitor OFF, connect a VGA monitor to the VGA port, (Connector), on the netbook.
Left side, towards the middle.
This is a general example of a VGA connector (Port), and VGA Cable,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_Connector
Scroll down a little for VGA Cable example.
You can use a CRT type of monitor, (Looks like a small TV); or a flat LCD screen monitor if it has a VGA Cable.
Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type allow it to warm up.
Turn the netbook on.
By factory default settings, the display should automatically show on the external VGA monitor.
There is also an HDMI port on the netbook. Left side, towards the front.
If this is more applicable for you, such as connecting to an HDTV with an HDMI port, then use it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI
(Should mention, on any Wikipedia page, you can click on the photo, or illustration; to see an enlarged view)
Going on.......
Display on external monitor/HDTV is OK?
Problem is the Video Cable, or LCD screen.
(The Acer Chromebook 11.6 series of Netbook PC, uses LED\'s for a Backlight. To my knowledge no Screen Inverter is used )
The Video Cable plugs into the motherboard, in an area under the Keyboard, or close to the LCD screen.
It then leads across, and goes under/by the left Hinge.
From there it goes up into the Display Assembly, and connects to the back of the LCD screen.
Believe there to be a small cable coming off the main cable, of the Video Cable; and this connects to the LED backlighting.
(Light Emitting Diode)
It could be the Video Cable connection TO motherboard, has become partially disconnected; or partially disconnected at the back of the LCD screen.
May not be visible to the naked eye. (Eyes are always naked. What are they talking about? Just wanted to see if you were following along, lol!)
For this reason the proper procedure, is to Physically try to plug the Video Cable\'s connectors, in tighter.
Yes. Check LCD screen side since it is the easiest to access; THEN check the motherboard side.
Checking the LCD screen side connection may be as easy, as remove all power, plus simply removing the Display Bezel, and removing mounting for the LCD screen. (Screws - Philips head)
Then LCD screen is tilted forward at the top, and connection checked at the back.
Checking motherboard connection of Video Cable, involves removing all power, Keyboard, and Palm Rest Cover. Plus it looks for this model, that the Palm Rest Cover is two pieces.
The Touchpad \'area\' going across, and then the main body of the Palm Rest Cover.
Yes.
So new disassembly information isn\'t available to the public yet.
Acer? Yeah right. They give you Nothing.
Disassembly info depends on users who have done this, and shared.
Sounds like fun(?) with the Video Cable, huh?
Connections are proved to be tight, all power is reinstalled; and netbook turned on.
[ AC adapter (Charger), and Battery = all power ]
Still no joy?
Then Video Cable is removed, and a Continuity test is performed on it.
A multimeter is used to do this. OHM\'s (1K)
Each wire in the Video Cable is checked for continuity, by the multimeter sends electricity through each wire.
Reading on multimeter is at 0, you know there is a stretched/broken wire.
You can also take the Video Cable down to the nearest small computer repair shop, (\'Mom and Pop\'), and have the resident tech check it. Should only be a few bucks.
You MUST rule out the Video Cable before going on.
The next item to replace is the LCD screen.
Would bite if you replaced the LCD screen, and the problem was just a cheap Video Cable.
Can I guide you in the partial disassembly you need to perform, in order to access the Video Cable connections, and/or Video Cable to remove it?
Yes. I believe I can.
Will take patience, a No.1 Philips screwdriver, or equivalent Jewelers screwdriver, an ESD wrist strap, and it would be nice to have a Spudger Tool.
Average cost of an ESD wrist strap, is around $3 to $6.
One example,
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103245
The alligator clip is attached to a good ground source.
I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an open, empty desktop computer case.
I feel an Anti-Static Mat is unwarranted, and can expound on that.
You can set a large metal serving tray (Unpainted), on the Table you\'re working on; and connect to it.
Or perhaps a large metal knickknack. (Unpainted)
Example of a Spudger Tool used for computers,
http://www.amazon.com/Techni-Tool-Spudger-Alignment-Tool-Black/dp/B000PDNPYK
Hard nylon plastic. Comes in handy for removing the Display Bezel, and splitting the Palm Rest Cover off of the Bottom Cover.
(Base Enclosure)
The plastic frame in front of the LCD screen is the Display Bezel.
From the Display Bezel back to the Display Cover, and everything in-between; is the Display Assembly.
The Display Cover is the top cover you see with the netbook closed.
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.
(Desktop or Laptop)
Wearing an ESD wrist strap, and having it\'s alligator clip attached to a good ground source; you netbook is safe from Static. (From you)
If you wish to perform the above procedure, post back in a Comment.
When I reply however, there will be no paragraph structure. I will be typing in a \'ticker-tape\' format. Get\'s pretty hard to read. Just advising.
Also you can see I\'m pretty \'windy\'. I try to detail it out.
A basic look at the main procedures. NOT your netbook, however,

SOURCE: I turn on my computer and the Acer screen comes up
sounds like a boot error, usually caused by moving files you shouldnt move or viruses deleting important files, in either case... you should be able to do a complete system restore, when the screen comes on, press the f2 button or whichever one says to push for the e recovery manager, select system restore, not just a restore point, and follow the recovery wizard, hope this helps.

The best solution is to Download a program Called ''Screen Mode Switch". It's a program that lets you switch between screen resolutions by pressing keyboard combinations. Instead of having to shut down your PC or put it to sleep you can save a lot of time by switching the screen resolution back and forth conveniently. Switching the screen resolution clears the white screen. It's a fast and efficient solution. You can download the program here ->http://www.download32.com/screen-mode-switch-i60507.html

Please check all your connections are ok on both side (on Motherboard and backside of the Screen),
Re-connect both, If it is still shows same problem, their will be a hardware problem with screen (LCD/LED) or Motherboard graphics...
you can confirm it by connecting to an external monitor using a VGA cable
Thank you, Please rate me if you are happy with this...
