Question about LG Flat Panel Televisions
It has the red light on standby but when i switch it on (either with remote or side of the telly) the red light goes green for about 10 seconds but then goes back to standby. There is no sign of any picture or sound. Can you help?

I have had this problem in some models of plasma sets before. In most cases the power supply and main drive boards had to be replaced. In a small number of cases the failure was the screen itself.
In all cases, the cost of the repair was expensive. For the screen failure, the set was scrapped.

14 times means the LCD panel is defective. I just had one of those tvs in my shop. Sony will take care of the panel replacement in warranty.

Sounds like it started "Protection Mode" because of a failed electronic part inside the TV. When this happens, the TV will keep turning itself OFF or will not turn ON at all. This keeps the other parts inside from being damaged. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem.
The common part to go bad for flat panel screens circuit board that powers the screen itself. Most manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say what is 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom.
You have a few choices:
1. Best thing to do, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, schematics, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. Its the best repair guide material for fixing TVs. And most cases the new part cost less than $15 by searching on the internet with the part number.
2. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

lg has a problem with that model--usually bad electrolytic caps(most of the time the tops of the bad caps are swollen)if you take apart the unit you should see them problable in the power supply--if you dont think you can change them--contact a local shop-ask 4 price 2 change them or u can go to shopjimmy.com--enter model number--scroll down til u find power supply--if not in stock write down part number--google part number to find one

The green blinks are an error code indicating a specific fault, your power supply developed an 'over-voltage' issue and needs to be serviced at your local repair shop.......
