Question about Canon Printers & Copiers
I have a Canon copier model pc-7. The problem is that the copier prints dark no matter how light I make the settings. I bought the copier new about 20 years ago but I only use it about 2 months out of the year and then only lightly. I had this problem about 10 years ago and I took the copier to a Canon repair shop and they fixed it by replacing the "fuser".
I was looking up parts on the internet related to the fuser and found many parts associated with the fuser. I don't want to put very much money into this copier because it is so old, so I was thinking maybe I could fix it myself if I could: a.) identify the problem correctly, and b.) get the correct part cheaply off the internet. Does anyone know of a repair manual for these copiers and what the part is that I would need to fix this copier?
WOW! Talk about a trip back through time! It may well be the fuser again after so long, but it could very well aslo be the toner cartridge failing.
Remove the toner cartridge, and on the under side of it look at the drum (green cylinder) -you may have to push back a "gate". Does it have toner on it? If so that is your problem. Don't bother trying to clean it, it is supposed to be self cleaning and will get covered again immediately anyway. Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't even spend the money on a new toner cartridge for this old soul....for another $50 -$100 you should be able to pick up a new LASER copier -and please don't waste even more money on an "inkjet" machine!
