Question about Emerson EWL3706 37 in. LCD Television

I still have not solve my problem. I know the lamps are still okay. I need a opinion what's causing the shutdown when I power on my TV. I have a Emerson LCD color tv, M/N-LC320EM82 that when it powered ON remotely or using the key, the green light blinks 4 times and I see the screen with the "DIGITAL TELEVISION" writting on it but it will go back to standby mode. I did contacted FUNAI 3 times for any inputs to no avail. Perhaps if I have a way to pin point which boards are the problem, I can just replace the board. I am not a electronic technician that can test every single parts to pin point the problem to just unsolder and resolder parts. If someone had experienced same symtoms and they fix the problem, I would be really glad to know. I checked for parts but unfortunately he has every components of my particular unit except for the "power supply/ backlight inverter" with part #BA71F0F01042.

I've found a Service manual that I paid 10.88$. The service manual don't have a troubleshooting guide. it consist of wiring and schematics, some warnings and parts list. I don't think this will help me at all. I acquired the service manual from NY TECH TV repair, INC. is this common to Service manuals? I thought a service manuals consist of everything to fix or service a particular unit.

Hello, if your a slight bit electronicaly and mechanicaly inclined then its a matter of finding your tv's service manual. in this manual you will find the cuase of the specific model codes 4 blinks .
since all tv's have different component they are different to trouble shoot not all codes mean the same thing to all tv's,. each company has there own trouble shooting codes.
basically you will have to find the manual it is downlaodable at service manual sites or parts zone
then you will have to read a bit to get familiar with your tv's circut shutdown procedure
it should be a board if your getting blinking codes thats a good thing your tv is servicable.
dont pe impatient take your time and locate a manual.. when you know what part to exchange according to the blink codes then you go on ebay or any parts site and find the part its not to hard just a bit complicated and it takes time to find a inexpensive usable part but it will be rewarding.
i am a electronic tech and i still have to get the manuals before i start to fix a set i have fixed a few of them and the rewards is seeing it go back to life without spending as much as a new tv to fix them like electronic repair shops they want 400$ just to look at your set and exchange 1 part so do your math and get the manual first.. ..

then you will know.. good luck best regards

Was told my backlight was out on my vt420m and it needed to be replaced

The backligts lamps rarely go out, but the backlights inverter boards that drive the lamps do go out often, you may need better tech that has real experience troubleshooting LCD TV.
Power supply, main board can also cause no lights on the screen. I would get second opinion.

Turned tv on this morning. it was fine for a couple minutes then I heard a "pop" and picture went out. Red light blinking.

lamp burned out and popped all you need to do is replce lamp.the lamp part number is xl 2400.there is a door on the right side of tv.remove door and then remove innerdoor by turning handle carefully. then pull ring attatched to lamp housing.then replace in reverse order making sure inner door is replaced properly cause there is a safety switch on inner door that wont let tv power up if not replaced correctly. this should solve your problem good luck .

Tv keeps turning on and of about once a minute

If it is Sony KDF-E55A20 TV then symptom shows TV needs lamp replacement as existing lamp got weak in result and consume more current then its rating and causing auto off-on cycle.
Lamp replacement is easy and mentioned in user manual, click Sony Support to download user manual copy and required lamp XL-2200 is available in Sony Accessories Store.
Please buy Sony original lamp for TV safety.

My lamp inicator flashes red after a minute or two and the television turns off. I've replaced the bulb and it still does it. Zenith D60WLCD ??

Okay this tells me something is getting hot and forced shutdown so I would check and see if fans are obstucted, and there RPMs are up to par.

But when in doubt always call the manufacture as they know to whom to take it to for a repair.

Something is causeing this to turn off and its mostlikly the heat,

Sony 42 in. lcd projection tv went out; just makes a sound.

The TV should "blink" a number of times after it fails to start up (the red light blinks a certain number, pauses, blinks a certain number, pauses, etc.). This tell what is wrong with the TV. If the LAMP light is what is blinking, then the lamp needs to be replaced.

Most of the problems with this television are related to the lamp or lamp chamber. If the Television lamp is burned out or worn, or the lamp will not start, then it will not try to come on. There are circumstances where the LAMP light on the front of the TV will not come on, even though the lamp is out. I would try replacing the lamp (which is meant to be user-replaceable). The popping noise you heard could have been the lamp going out.

The lamp chamber door also activates a switch that tells the TV that the door is in place. This switch will sometimes go bad, showing a relatively small amount of resistance, but enough to fool the TV into thinking that the door has not been replaced, causing the TV to shutdown. Make sure that the lamp door is properly replaced if you do remove it. It is no longer available from Sony (too many warped doors from heat damage).

Lamp part number is available in the user manual, as well as instruction on changing it.

Hope this helps you...

Lamp failure indicator

I had the same issue when replacing my lamp for the first time. I replace just the bulb with the Phillips replacement bulb. After installing the power down issue started and it would take up to 7 attempts before the TV would stay on with a picture.

Since I never had this problem until i replaced the bulb i decided to send the new bulb back and replace it with a difference one. In my opinion replacement parts are never made to the same standard as original OEM parts. This TV is definitely very temperamental in regard to the bulbs.

When the second replacement bulb arrived I decided to not only replace the bulb I also cleaned the connector plug in the cartridge with a QTip and alcohol. I did the same for the plug receptor in the TV.

When I replaced the bulb i insured the the top of bulb lettering was facing the handle of the cartridge so when you put the cartridge back in the TV the top of the bulb would be facing you.

I also cleaned the entire inside of the TV where the cartridge is inserted including the screws.

Once I did all this the TV turned on the first time and has been working fine for three days now.

I do believe the replacement bulb position is very important as to how it heats up and determines when it needs to cool.

I hope this helps others with the same success i had because I really do not want to replace this TV and start replacing all the parts others have done with little to no success for this issue.
