Question about Amana ABB1927DE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

My amana bottom freezer refrigerator is making a periodic clicking sound. Only to find out the items in our freezer have defrosted! Any idea why?

my refrigerator is making the same clicking noise. I figured it was the compressor overheating. I cleaned the coils and fan, also removed all dust build up under the Frig. The fan runs fine, however after 3-4 hours the compressor overheats again and the freezer will not cool anymore. What do I look for next?

The periodic clicking sound you hear is probably the overload protection device that is on the compressor, what makes this clicking sound is that it is overheating causing the bi-metal to open, now what causes the bi-metal to over heat. check your condenser or condenser fan they should both be clean and operating, make sure your that the back of the refrigerator is at leash 6" away from any wall, if not this will prevent air flow to the condenser which will cause it to overheat.

I have an Amana "R" Series Bottom Freezer Refrigerator model Bx20RL purchased in 1995. The freezer is working but the refrigerator section is warm. I've cleaned the coils regularly and just did so again....

It is either a defrost timer or limit switch, That's the little clip on device located on top of one of your freezer coils. This is the most common item to die on many newer refrigerators2_bing.gif. It is also pretty inexpensive, and easy to get from Sears or 1stsource parts. In rare cases your defrost heater may go bad, but I haven't had to replace one in a long while.

Refrig. not cooling properly

if the timer is working the most likely problem is the bi-metal(also called defrost thermostat)it is the disc shaped piece that clamps to the coils behind the back could also have a problem with the heating element, these items require a multi meter to check

Amana ABD2533DEB Bottom Freezer - Fridge not working

Sounds like the circulating fan is either gone or is going bad. This problem is hard to diagnose because sometimes the fan will run but not fast enough to circulate the air through the freezer and refrigerator. I would have your repairman look at this or if you have the know how then you can order the fan and replace it yourself.

See the post by lola77 with the same complaint. We have an Amana top/bottom freezer and are having the same problem and we've only had it 4 1/2 years. First service call available that the 1-800 number gave me was 3 days from now, which is ridiculous.

Amana ABB1927DE lower drawers freeze and lock potential

Cold air settles to the bottom of the fridge. Things that can freeze easy may if the door is closed for long periods of time. This is a normal condition for any refrigerator. Look to see if there is a vent that goes to that drawer and close it all the way. That may make a difference.
