Is it a British front loading dryer? If so, is it a condensor dryer? If so, it is usually the thermostats although could be the element. If it is a regular dryer, the heater and stats come as one unit. Occasionally, the wires also burn out where they connect to the heater or stats. New terminals can be fitted if this is the case. Power off before you remove any panels! Typically heaters are around £35 or so for the majority of whirlpool dryers (UK).

Dryer heats up and blows air but is not spinning. What's up?

The problem most likely is a stretched or broken belt. This will have to be replaced to restore proper operation.

GE dryer dwsr463eg7ww timer isn't working and doesnt heat up

The heating element assembly warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the dryer won't stop, it may be because the heating element assembly isn't working - which greatly increases the drying time. Check the heating element for continuity. http://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Dryer/7-3-850356-/GE-Dryer-won-t-stop-DWSR463EG7WW

The problem is in the thermal cut-off (cut-out) and the high-limit thermostat located on the heating element housing. Verify this condition by bypassing the said components. Click on the link below for the details.
