Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators

Condensation dripping from top of refrigerator

Condensation seems to be dripping from vent/temp control on top of refrigerator unit [below freezer]. when I place a flat pan on the top refrigerator shelf to catch water it freezes in the pan. The removable factory pan to catch condensation located at the bottom of the refrigerator is completely dry. Could the condensation drip hose be clogged? How can I check or clean it?

Thanks for any ideas.

The problem is the defrost drain trough is plugged with ice. You will have to turn off the refrigerator, remove the freezer back panel and use a baby aspirator to help you apply and remove hot water to melt the ice. Then insert the aspirator in the drain hole to blow out any thing that may have gotten lodged inside. You will hear the water draining now to the pain underneath the refrigerator. Hope that helps you, good luck!!

Refrigerator is running below freezing even though the settings are set as high as possible. Water pools at the bottom and then freezes

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. The evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the inside of the freezer at the bottom of the rear cover.

Water dripping into the refrigerator

Sounds very common. Without seeing your refrigerator I can only imagine that you have a drain pan leak below refrigerator, defrost condensate drain line loose or missing the drain pan, frozen over drain opening inside rear wall of freezer or the defrost condensate line is blocked somewhere along its route to the condensate collection tray below refrigerator. Hotpoint CTF15ELD top freezer refrigerator - freezer O.K. refrig too warm

It's likely the door was inadvertently left open, and the cold air passages from the freezer have built up enough ice that the cold air from the freezer has no way to enter the refrigerator. Check the cealing of the refrigerator. If you can see or feel ice in the passages between the freezer and fridge, you can probably solve the problem by finding a safe temporary home for your food, and leaving the refrigerator unplugged overnight.

Water drips from evaporator fan channel Frigidaire FRT17G4B

It sounds as if this is a top mounted refrigerator. (freezer on top) If this is the case, check to see if you need to defrost the drain. You could also have a problem with the door seals. Remember the air coming out of the vent is freezer temp minus a few degrees. It could be that the moisture is condensing in that area.
