Question about GE Profile¿ Arctica® Energy Star® 25.5 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Dispenser, PSS26MSRSS

1 Answer

I have a GE Profile Arctica Side By Side refrigeratorand the water despenser is not working. I have narrowed the problem down to be a frozen waterline, but it is not frozen in the frezer door. The line is coiled up and frozen behind the draweres in the bottom of the refrigerator compartment. I have adjusted the temp in the fridge to the 44* maxumum, and the line still freezes.

From the looks of the installation diagram the dispenser water tube heater kit # WR49X10173 mounts near where the water comes out of the freezer door. If that is true, I don't think it will work because the place where my water line is freezing is inside the refrigerator compartment behind the drawers. Please let me know where the heater mounts, and if it will help melt the water inside the refrigerator compartment.

Also, the model # attached to my question is incorrect. the serial # on the back of the fridge is PSI23SGMBKBSLA414169 the only other info I know is that the refrigerator is a GE Profile Arctica counter depth model.

I havn't been able to find a diagram of my exact model # but the the closest diagram I have found is for model # PSI23SGMBFBS, and the part that is freezing is #812 "plastic tube".

I think the problem might be a temperature regulation issue in which case I might need a new thermostat, but I'm not sure.

I have also found a "Refrigerator air inlet cover/damper kit with fan motor. Damper and fan assembly has been updated to prevent freezing in the refrigerator." part # 1055112. Is this part a possible problem?

There may be an issue with the water dispenser line freezing in this model. The fix for it might be this dispenser water tube heater kit # WR49X10173. Hope that helps you out and best of luck

Yes it looks like they have updated this damper kit but I think your problem would be an overall cooling in the refrigerator side if this were the issue and not confined to the bottom crisper drawer. The part I told you about is a heat tape that
attaches to the inner edge of the dispenser just under the spout but you are sure the freezing is not occurring there. I have not been able to find anything to resolve the freezing behind the crisper drawer except a recommendation of insulating the tubing back there. Hope that help, let me know

Ge profile arctica side by side- ice maker and water dispenser not working..have already replaced the water filter

The water dispenser and the icemaker both operate on different soleniods on the water valve so the chances of a bad valve are slim. I would assume you issue is in your water supply. The easiest thing you could try first would be to check your saddle valve that taps into your main water line to supply the ref. They are known for calcium deposits which obstruct the flow of water. This issue is IDed by very slow water pressure through th door. If its gunked your icemaker fill tube may also be frozen.

I have a GE arctica profile - the water dispensing "bucket" somehow filled with water and froze over. Water spilled over and froze on other parts of the ice maker. Tried taking it out to thaw it -...

This is very possibly due to a defective water control valve and a fill tube being frozen over due to the constant flow of water to the ice maker when the water valve should be off. You will need to tun off the water supply before the valve behind the refrigerator before replacing the valve. If you could tell me which model number you have that will help us find the correct parts. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Not getting water from dispenser in door

The connector that is leaking is bad causing tubing to come out and leak. The reason it won't flow is it is iced up inside of the door and no, unfortunately, you can't disassemble the door to get to it. It requires a door replacement. The connector is part number WR02X10471 from or GE Factory Service Parts at 1-800-626-2002
