Why don't u make a fresh install.....
i mean uninstall all the driver and software...
re install it.. without plug in ur scanner.....
u can check in ur device manager o.. whther u have problem at ur connecting port or the driver...

If the feature of the scan is not available from Windows then you can go to www.canon.com and find the scan program for your particular model in the free download section. If you still have the disk that came with the printer then try reloading the programs first...then resort to the download from cannon.com

Tips for a great answer:
Start the computer and the scanner by pressing the power buttons.
Open the scanner and place the photo facedown on the bed. Close the scanner.
Click "Start" on the desktop task bar. Click "Programs" and then "HP Solution Center." Alternately, you can double-click the HP Solution Center icon if it's on your desktop.
