Goo Gone, mineral spirits, kerosene, or if you're really ********** and want drastic results, lacquer thinner which will probably melt and take the cheap plastic vinyl and whatever else off your automobile too, but hey the mounting disk and any adhesive residue is GONE. - LOL
Some TOMTOM have the EasyFold attachment: It has a large ring that you push against the back of the GPS while twisting it a bit. In some TT GPS, notably the GO series, the windshield or dashboard attachment ends in a rectangular shaped piece that slides on the back where the speaker is located.
its not suppose to have any adhesive on it. not sure with one (mount ) tomtom gave you with your unit (they have a few differant ones) but if its the one that looks like the one pictured below, you just press it on the windshield(make sure its good and clean)
that is absolutely the worst mount them make, normally they wont stay on long and your gps will fall off and hit the floor and most likely damage it.
you should of gotten a black plastic disk to use to put under the mount for good adhesion .
my Magellen came with a black disk with adhesive on 1 side. Intended to be adhered to any smooth surface (e.g., windshield). The mount for my unit includes a suction cup. So, mount black disk to windshield and attach suction cup to smooth side of black disk. Be sure disk is positioned where suction cup and bracket and GPS will have sufficient room to mount everything.
I have had the same problem a few times. The only thing that seems to help me is to put the mount on the windshield first, ensuring that I push it firmly into place, and then slide the gps unit into it.
The GPS unit comes with an adhesive disk that must be installed on the surface where you want to place the GPS unit. The suction cup will only work with this adhesive disk. Once the adhesive disk is installed, the suction cup will hold. Here's the instructions magellan web site...
Clean and dry the dashboard where the adhesive disk is going to be installed using enclosed alcohol pad.
Remove the protective paper cover from the bottom of the adhesive
disk; place the bottom of the adhesive disk firmly on the dashboard.
Apply even pressure on the top of the adhesive disk for a secure fit (Allow 24 hours to cure).
Place suction cup mount on top of adhesive disk.
Firmly press suction cup mount down flat against the adhesive disk,
press the suction cup lever down to secure the suction cup to the
