Just about any PCMCIA wireless card will work for you.

Just make sure you meet the hardware requirements on the box.

I've never noticed any major difference between brands.

D-link, linksys, and netgear all are acceptable for you.

I'd stay away from the usb wireless cards for a number of reasons.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Best of luck!

Your best bet would be to get a wireless USB adapter. Not only can you plug it in and use it on your laptop, but you can use it on any computer if you needed to. One like this would work like a charm: Netgear Wireless USB

I have an old Compaq Armada 1592DMT laptop with Windows 98 and Pentium MMX. Does it have the capability to go wireless with a Netgear wireless adapter?

The short answer is yes. Just make sure you have the windows 98 drivers for the WiFi adapter you are using.

Now the long answer... well at least what you probably do not want to hear.

This baby has a maximum of 96MB of memory with a 233MHz processor (**** slow)... if you do not have the maximum memory, I would guess the performance will be painful.

Maximum Memory
Memory Expansion
CPU Type
Model/Chipset
16 or 32 MB (non-removable)
80 or 96 MB

The Compaq Armada M700 does not have a built in WIFI adapter. You must use an USB or PCMCIA adapter to connect to a wireless network.

Is there a wireless adapter available for this model

Yes there is, and it's called Compaq WL100 Wireless 11-Mbps PC Card. You check the wireless driver here:http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=96717&prodSeriesId=96231&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093#11319
If your laptop doesn't have this and you still need wireless connectivity, better get a usb-type wireless adapter. This should give your laptop wireless functionality, same as a wireless adapter.

How can i connect a wireless internet connection with a compaq armada E500

Get a PCMCIA to USB2 adapter that has an external 5 Volt connection to it to supply the higher current for the wireless adapter. The power can come from the USB via USB adapter cable
After installing the adapter, the USB wireless device should be installed just like in any later notebook. The wireless device requires USB2 and high power. and won't work off a powered hub.

How do i get the wireless turned on?

Hello. you will have to purchase a USB wireless adapter. Expect to spend about 75 dollars. The nice thing is you can use it with any laptop that does not have an internal wireless setup.
Here is a link to show you some of the models out there. http://mobileoffice.about.com/od/laptopaccessories/tp/usbwifiadapters.htm

Network card

Any type of PCMCIA network card should work okay.
Go down to Staples, Best Buy or Office Depot and find
a decent PCMCIA network card.  You should be able to find
one for under $50
