I have the same problem! Its been working fine and is a built in Neff S5456 model. The pump is heard and when I tip a cup of water in it pumps it out but doesnt seem to recognise that its empty?
Ive cleaned the filters and have just bought a Tork Driver T20 to remove the screw housing the pump cover as I read the manual and this could be blocked. I will update you with the result soon.

Brilliant! I've read something about taking the plinth cover off and then removing water with a sponge but I really have no idea where I am looking! Even tried finding a Bosch manual as a trip to Comet this evening showed me they are exactly the same! S5456 is identical to SGV46M.

THanks bud. Even tried to find a manual for the Bosch SGV46 as its exactly the same! I did read it could be water in the base which has to be removed by sponge or syringe. It involves taking off the plinth - but basically I've no idea where to go as there doesnt seem to be any way in!

Update to my problems. It is now working. I removed the T20 tork screw housing the pump cover which is situated underneath the filter. I used a sponge and siringe to remove all water. And started the dishwasher a few times to spin the pump and flickout any excess water. I noticed some small bits of food which were removed and I cleaned all filters and put it back together. It didnt work staright away but the pump was not comong on as soon as the door was shut anymore. I did a reset and then selected a rinse programme and voila it worked! Tried a full wash cycle last night and it all seemed to be working fine......

SOURCE: Dishwasher pump keeps running

This is caused by a water leak into the base pan,it will trigger the anti flood and the machine will continously drain out even with the door open, you need to establish what is leaking,if you leave the appliance standing for a few days it will start again as the water will evaporate however if the fault returns you will definetly have aleak on the appliance which will require further investigation.

make sure you still have power going to your unit. sometimes they are plugged into a regular wall plug under the sink or you can also chrck the circuit breaker @ the panel most of the on the out side of the house

Neff dishwasher pump continues to run after cycle finished

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or back feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET valve to open up and allow water to flow into. Also after the program is completing to the final stage the drain vavle/pump must work and cut off If this does not happen then the voltage at the inlet valve/drain pump must be checked or the fault relates to the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Contunuous draining turned into a flood when unit powered off

The fill valve is governed by the float switch. I doubt that your fill valve (solenoid) has failed.

Focus on replacing the float switch and you should be all set.

Good Luck!

Dishwasher not starting when door closes

What your saying is suggesting a water supply issue. The Model number you've given can not be found on the Neff website.

You will need to disconnect power, turn the water supply off (under sink or behind dishwasher), disconnect the water line, put the end of the hose in a bucket or cup, turn water back on slowly and make sure water flows. Turn back off. If water flows -

Then check that there is not a restriction in the water solenoid valve. If you know how to use a multimeter, check the water valve solenoid for continuity.

Plug the unit back in, and initiate a wash cycle, and watch for voltage applied to the water solenoid valve. If you get voltage, you should hear the valve open.
Power the unit off, connect the water line, and repower the unit. Check again if water does or doesnt flow.

Let me know what you find.

Dishwasher stuck on "drain"

not easy to fix - it has a leak. the tray at the base is full of water which ooperates a float which switches drain pump on. remove front panel at bottom front and mop out water or tilt backwards 45deg and water will run out. leak is usually main pump
