The HP LaserJet 1018 is somewhat compatible with Windows 10. I would recommend using the Vista x64 driver. All you have to do is go to hp.com and click support. Then type in HP LaserJet 1018 and click search. Find the Drivers button. Select Windows Vista x64. Then download the driver. The .inf file is what you want to right click. Click Install. It should say "Installation Successful"
You need to download the printer drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Personally, on all HP Printers, I use only HP products, mainly Jetdirect Print Servers, but you might try creating a TCP Port Printer (via your Printer Install Wizard) and use that. You only need to know the IPAddress of the DLink and the Drivers for the HP Printer.
