How do l change oil and filter on focus estate 2000.

  • rainforestco Apr 19, 2009

I have the same problem with a Ford Ranger truck 2005... How much oil do I put back into the engine? And I understand that this new model takes a different oil number...

    Thanks for your help.

Well, you'll want to get under your car and locate the oil pan. It should look something like a metal box and you'll find it in the middle of the engine area. There will be a nut, probably 9/16th size, so you';ll need a wrench or socket. When this becomes loose enough, use your fingers to twist it off. Be warned! Once this nut is off oil will immediatly become rushing out. You'll probably want to have a bucket or something to catch the oil. Once the oil has drained, tighten the nut back onto the oilpan. The oil filter shouldn't be far from the oilpan, probably a little bit upwards, you'll should be able to see it from where you drained your oil, but you can also sometimes spot it when leaning over your engine. Be sure to wet the lip of your new oil filter with clean/new oil before replacing it!

The oil filter is located at the front of the engine on 1.4 & 1.6 engines and at the rear on 1.8 & 2.0 On the diesel it is located at the rear above the drive shaft

SOURCE: Locating oil filter

Hi,

If you're under your car, right at the oil pan, look straight up from the pan (if your head is toward the back and your legs toward the front). It is up about a foot, and the filter should be jutting out to the back. If it's the first time you're changing the filter, I believe it will be white, for motorcraft. About the diameter of a chunky soup can.

Thanks.

How many quarts of oil do i put in a 2000 ford focus

Depending on what engine this is, you should drain oil, change filter, add 3.75 qts of oil, then start engine to check for leaks. Turn engine off, then check the oil fill on the dipstick. Add to proper amount generally at 4 or 4.25 qts.

Let me know if this helps,
