Make sure that the camera and the computer are both turned off. Put camera in the playback mode and turn off.
Turn camera and computer on at the same time and open your editing software. The software should then recognize the camera. Press play on the camera and capture on the software screen at the same time.

You've lost me. What is pc120e?

All that is necessary is that both the camera (with the tape rewound) and the computer are turned off when you connect the two. Turn them on at the same time and open your editing software.

I cannot connect the camera to the PC to download video from a tape in the camera. I have been to Windows websites, Canon websites, there are supposedly no drivers to download, the Canon Zoom Browser EX...

I can't see the other solutions you mention.

This camera requires a Firewire (DV or IEEE1394) connection to download videos from tape. That is all there is to it. Some mini-DV cameras will download by USB cable, but this one is not one of them. The USB connection is only usable to download stills from a memory card in the camera in this model.

The same is true of cameras made by other companies such as Sony and Samsung. Some models will download over USB cables but other will only work over Firewire.

I am trying to connect my Sony DCR-TRV10E to my home computer via ilink-USB cable, but my computer does not recognize the Camcorder.... I guess this is due to missing drivers for Windows 7. Can anyone help...

USB and i.Link cables are not the same thing. What Sony call i.Link everyone else calls Firewire, DV or IEEE1394, and it is a different standard from USB with different connectors.

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire (DV) connection. Some mini-DV cameras only use the USB connection (if they have one) for stills and can only download video by Firewire. This is because you have to play the tape into the computer, not just copy a file. If you are trying to use a USB cable for video download, then it won't work for this camera. The driver is not the problem, this model is not on the Sony list of cameras that will download video over USB.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My camera came with the correct lead.

There is a Sony tutorial page for downloading at THIS LINK You will need to select Windows as the operating system, then Mini-DV as the camera type, then select the type of connection. As you will see, the USB option warns that it won't work with many Mini-DV cameras.

Can transfer the data from dcr HC28 (mini dv) to a computer. If yes how.

You can transfer mini dv movie files through DV Link (iLink) on camcorder, plug DV / IEEE1394 cable in camcorder and computer to import camera movie files in computer. It is necessary that your computer should have IEEE1394 port.
Thanks

WHICH FIREWIRE CABLE DO I GET FOR THE SONY DCR-TRV22E DV

you would need a ieee1394 4pin cable for the camcorder. of course the other end of the cable would depend on the computer's ieee1394 jack you'll be connecting the cable to. there are 2 types of ilink cables: 4pin-to-4pin or a 4pin-to-6pin (firewire 400) cable. latest mac computers uses a firewire 800 port so if your using one you may need a Moshi 800 to 400 firewire adapter if your having compatibility issues. see: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TW748LL/A for more information. hope this helps. thanks:)

Sony Handycam DCR-HC42 Mini DV not recognized by Windows 7

win vista and win 7doesn't support usb streaming. the usb driver for this model would not be compatible with your computer's OS. although, you were able to download PMB still this wouldn't work, it's basically an alternative software that you can use with the newer OS. still the device driver would not be installed. and you would get a message that "ilink connection is not detected". the reason you get that is bec the camcorder and the software is intended for use with the dv (ilink or ieee1394) connection. so if your computer has an ieee1394 card and you have a compatible ilink cable, then your good to go,it should be a plug-and-play connection (no drivers required). all you need then would be a video capturing software (like win moviemaker) to transfer videos from tape to PC. hope this helps. thanks :)

I want to transfer the film taken by DCR-CH52E to computer, is there any one knows the solution? if so please let me know. thank you in advance. regrads

your unit doesnt have usb streaming feature (reason it doesnt have a usb jack). connection would have to go thru ilink (ieee1394) connection. that's the dv interface located left side at the bottom of the battery. it's a plug-and-play connection.so basically you need an ieee1394 card installed in your computer to support connection (refer to computer manufacturer), an ieee1394 cable compatible for both your computer and camcorder (uses 4 pin cable), and a video capturing software like moviemaker (for windows) and imovie (for mac).if you have that then your good to go. hope this helps. thanks:)

I need a USB cable 4-pin Mini I-Link

Check your computer user’s manual, if your computer doesn’t have a Firewire port, you need to buy an IEEE1394 card to install in your computer and a firewire cable to connect your Mini DV. Check with your local computer store

Connection

Only DV connections (IEEE1394 connections) are possible when connecting your camcorder to a computer. DV connections (IEEE1394 connections) Your camcorder can be connected to a computer equipped with an IEEE1394 (DV) terminal or OHCI-compliant IEEE1394 capture board. You can transfer taped recordings (digital video signals) to the computer by connecting the camcorder to the computer. Use the editing software supplied with your computer/capture board to transfer video recordings from tape to the computer. If you are using a computer running Windows XP, you can also record the video simultaneously on your computer's hard disk and on the tape using DV-PC Recorder Software. You can download the DV-PC Recorder Software from Canon's DV-PC Recorder Web site. Making the connection Connect the camcorder to the computer as shown in the figure below. The computer's IEEE1394 (DV) terminal is either a 4-pin or a 6-pin type, depending on the computer used. Use either the CV-150F (4-pin - 4-pin) or the CV-250F (4-pin - 6-pin) DV cable (sold separately), whichever fits your computer's terminal. Precautions (1) There are cases where the connection may not work correctly, depending on your system specifications/settings. (2) If the computer freezes while you have the camcorder connected to it , disconnect and reconnect the DV cable. If the problem persists, take the following actions. (2-1) Disconnect the DV cable from the camcorder and the computer, and then turn off the camcorder and the computer. (2-2) Turn the camcorder and the computer back on and then reconnect them with the DV cable. (3) Your camera cannot be used with DV NETWORK SOFTWARE (DV Messenger).
