Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF60WE610 60" Rear Projection Television

2 Answers

Owner of Sony KDFE60A20 set. Worked great for 5 years, then picture started cutting in and out. Picture was clear as a bell when on, but would only stay on for a minute, then go off for a minute. Repairman replaced a lamp, don't know which one since my wife was at home when it was repaired. Now the picture has a heavy green tint that I can't change. Repairman indicated there was a Optical Blue Block recall by Sony. Has there been a recall on this set by Sony for any reason? Thanks, Jerry francis.simmons@navy,mil

Have you tried new composite or HDMI cables or a new input port on the TV? Sometimes a bad cable or connector will blemish a color signal.

Remove one of the 3 composite color cables at a time and see if it makes a difference,

good luck though cause if its the blue blob they wont and as I have a kdf42we655 and just took it apart and cleaned it all out all I see wrong is something with the yellow prism lens so all I would need to fix my tv is the little snap on piece that has the blue, red and yellow prism on it.........not the whole optical engine that costs as much as a new tv............

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years, some sooner, because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

Sony KDFE60a20 picture is not bright. We are losing sight of the picture due to it being so dark. Is this the lamp assembly or could it also be something else. TV is 5 years old.

Hi,
It is lamp that need to be replaced.
Lamp is not generating enough light to present bright picture on tv screen.
Lamp replacement is easy and written in user manual of tv.
Please buy Sony original lamp for good picture result in tv.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Sony tv model KV32S42 picture taking forever to come in

Speaking as a retired SONY dealer, the short answer is probably yes. There are some repairs an authorized SONY repair center can do but if the tube is displaying a soft picture, it may not be wise to spend a couple hundred on repairs when a new medium quality TV is three hundred to five hundred for a SONY. I applaud your devotion to a set that has served you well.

Green screen with sound from cable, but picture is fine with Wii

That would be my solution. The trouble is either in the box or your connecting cables. Verify this by connecting the cable directly to the set. Then try a new set of connecting cables, or call the cable provider to replace the box.
